Second time out on my factory, bought last Saturday rode it on the Sunday and it blew a 30amp fuse stopped it dead...took it out tonight for a wee run, less than ten minutes out it lost top end power and was spitting and missing a bit as I came back into town....pulled up at the house temp gauge at 94o and smoke coming from left hand cooling fan which was not turning..
Will the temp and fan have affected the running or will it be something else entirely??

at 94 the fans should be on, if one aint turning its gonna smoke/burn out. hopefully nowt else has cooked, check out the motor on the fan.

Would it affect the performance at all or is that going to be another problem do you think...?

Found out what the problem is...or part of it anyway.

normally damage like that indicates the wrong type of plug fitted . What model is the plug ?

hmm might be the issue i run 9e's so maybe the 7e is to warm ? (lower the number warmer the plug )

So what would you guys do in this situation...stick the right plugs in and hope for the best or take the head off and see what damage has been done????

can you get hold of a borescope to have a look around? will save taking the head off.

i would defo need to check inside for a bit of reassurance and agree with bloke on the scope idea.

Have managed to get a shot of a borescope from a local mechanic so thats my Monday night planned...
Will let you know what the verdict is..Have ordered a set of plugs DCPR 9E as its supposed to have and they will be herethis afternoon..

fingers crossed any bits just got spat out

would be worth pulling your O2 sensor just to check it out, had one once were a piston crown went and the bits from it battered the sensor.

I'd guess the rubbish will have been blown out. If you can get a look inside, all the better, then the correct plug, & fingers crossed.

it's unlikely there will be any left in the cylinder, it's just a case of if it's done any damage, bore, piston crown, head, seats, valves etc...
