Excellent - looks like a great trip mate. Some nice looking apes there.

Looks like you all had a good time. One question though don't you need registration plates out there? Or have you taken them off :devious

Hey Spud, we do all need number plates, but hey, living in a country where the government's heads are up their arses does have its perks, we can still get away relatively easy with things like that compared to you guys where your traffic systems are more organized!

we take them off cause they look **** and the bloody speed cams snap you!!! did I mention they look ****?

Hoho! Sun, sea, great wine and no number plates - Sounds like Paradise!

Hey Jacques - cool re the pics - thanks !

Would of been a bigger turnout, but heavy rain in early morning put a lot of us sunshine boys off. Think if had been in UK you guys would of tried to get a tan though.....

As for plates ...its a bit of a war zone here, lawlessness has its benefits, you can drive an un roadworthy car, be pissed, still with a beer in your lap, no seatbelt and overtake cops on a solid line....just give em a wave...

Serious though - if the 4 cops we have find or catch the bike with no plates it will be impounded. Most superbikes here dont have plates and ride on roads normally between the 200 to 300km/hr range and consider this totally normal. Adventure bikes and commuters in heavy rush hr traffic have plates.

Thanks again Jacques
Trackday 18th of the month and we have about 4 Mille's going

Nice pics and those two red ones look especially nice :thumbup glad you guys over there mamaged to get together and have a good day :thumbup

I think Jaques might have started something, looking forward to next time already. Hopefully all these guys will be back again.:biggrin

Sounds great!!

Pissed up driver driving at whatever speed he likes..........and doesnt give a **** about wiping a load of bikers out .

On the 4th or 5th picture look at the rear tyre on the 04 shape rsvr. So no number plates and no tread, beer for breakfast. What is the employment like out there?

Hey Spud - I think thats Kevins bike you on about ? Maybe Kevin - you think its a slick ? !!!:dunno

I have a Durbanite sitting next to me here at work and my brothers g/f is from the Cape ......................some of the roads that they have shown me look absolutely amazing, maybe I'll get over there one day or we could organise a "zone" rideout :devious

Hey Kiwi ..you most welcome.......just dunno how you gonna get the ape here ? You can hire bikes in Joburg or Cape Town, quite cheap actually but are either BMW GS type or Harleys, you wont get an Aprilia ,,,:biggrin. Outside Cape Town some awesome roads in good nic, twisties non stop road running along sides of mountains with sea cliffs off the side, plus theres the wine routes to follow too, but not easy to wine taste and ride all at same time, although this is Africa !

Other great rides are out East from Joburg to close to Mozambique border, locally known as "Bikers Paradise " old colonial towns with Boer war history like Pilgrams Rest, Sabie, Hazyview, Lydenburg etc ... some serious mountain passes and again non stop twisties for hundreds of miles, biker friendly even with the cops - no speed traps and small towns all biker friendly - its an income for them so they look after the guys.

So...now you know why some of us put up with this place :confused

Hi there all,
Thanks for the really cool day, most enjoyable, Jacques thank you for the pics, especially the 1st pic (my bike), it really does look good!!!
And so do the others.....
Nice to meet you guys, I think we'll have to do this again, as soon as I get new rubber on the back, totally ****** now...
In response to Len's info about the numberplates, it is a joke, I go down a stretch of highway at least every 2nd day in and around JHB, invariably there's a cop in a car, or 2 or 3, filter thru the traffic, exceeding the speed limit, not by much, with my tiny numberplate(100mm x 150mm) and just sail straight past, no objections, but if they shut the highway down on a sunday morning looking for the guys on the superbikes, if you don't have a license, a reg.disc for the bike or no numberplate your bike gets tossed up onto a flatbed and impounded, no question. But, if youv'e got a numberplate, any size, they can't impound, but you might get a fine, depending on your negotiating skills.

Have a good one guys, thanks again..

Jip that's my bike you are on about.

I know the rear looks almost done but unless the thread comes out it is staying on.

I use the bike dayly and between work and study there is littel time to f@ck about.

Looks like the SA life style might be a bit hardcore for you guys.:nana

Mate, back in June i did an east coast run with 3 mates. One on his ZX9R had a rear tyre that looked like yours. It didn't seem to bother him as he was doing 3 figures on certain stretches. We stopped for a break somewhere in lincs and the thread was showing in places. I said **** you need to go home and slow down. Did he? nope he carried on and followed us the next 50 miles and then all of the return journey. At one point we were "going very quickly":devious and i thought about his tyre, how on earth it did not shread or blow i still don't know. By the time we got home you could have played a concerto on the threads that were exposed. :eek:He got it changed 2 days later
