Hi guys and gals
Imnew to this forum and first I would like to say hello.lol short and sweet lol. So I own a 2005 rsvr1000 gen 2 sadly it's not a factory.but still a great bike but I have a problem I take her out and she fine then she seems to get better for about five miles then it all goes to pot starts to feel lumpy miss fires holding back and cutting out.but I a.ways get home?Just had new ngk spark plugs.if any one got any advice or has had the same problem ? Thanks hayd

While the problem is "on", try refueling the bike. If it helps, then your fuel pump is toast. Another possibility could be the ignition coils.

I bought my bike a few months back. It had similar issues and then one day it just stopped. It had an upgraded hose on the fuel pump and the hose just slipped off. I put the bike up on stands and went through it thoroughly. I found split vacuum lines, burnt wires, loose clamps, a crappy EVO air box mod, and other really scary stuff. I would check to see if your fuel tank breather lines are clean. You can check your fuel cap too while your there before you get a lap full of fuel. This bike is full of surprises.

Sounds like you didn't really check the bike over b4 you bought it. You know what they say "buyer beware"

I trust you have it all sorted out now.

Aprilia should write that in the Owner's Handbook. :D

I knew the bike had issues when I bought it. Plastics and tape hide a lot. I bought the bike at the dealership from a guy who had spent thousands trying to get it to run right and was just done with it. Somehow the PCIII melted the TPS wiring. It also had an oil light that came on and it ran like crap. I ordered a used harness and fixed the sensor wires, removed the white clip in the tail that was melted and put a new PCIII with the right map on it. It ran good until the fuel pump hose popped off. Then I tore it apart and found all sorts of stuff. The wire mods had been done to the r/r and the stator but when the stator went out I had to pry the connectors apart because they had melted together. It's a **** storm.

To quote a popular song......... "WHAT'S THAT COMING OVER THE HILL......IS IT A MONSTER? "

I'm sure that with a little TLC and a bit of positivity from you, you'll sort it all out. There's plenty of forum members who will be able to guide you through anything that you find.
Good luck

I have found 99% of the info on here to get her fixed, except for the TPS setting on 04 and up RSVR's since they don't have diagnostic wires. I have a thread going. Hoping for someone to chime in. I have set them measuring ohms. I wonder if it can be done the same?

Cheers for the info guys I think I'm going strip her down and have a proper look coz it seems to be getting worse
