Yes, they have been a great help to myself the newb :D

Thanks to everyone who has helped, If you guys have forum meets will have to meet up with you all and say hello

Mate, don't worry, once Griff gets hold of it you can relax - and he certainly won't rip you off. I'm still wondering if it's just your rev counter - they don't rev like an IL4 (which you had last) and the limiter does cut in pretty harshly.

another way i can describe it, is if you open the throttle and accelerate imagine tuning your ignition on and off really quickly 2 or 3 times, imagine the juddering etc you would get, its like thats happening anywhere between 7 and 9k revs

Ian G, don't worry about ruffling feathers, as an irishman my english geography ain't too hot and it seemed as if no one was near this chap, I had no idea where this mystical land of tamworth was and if it was close to him. Griff on the case sounds like a better plan.

Prepare for your baptism of fire into italian electrics.

GOOD NEWS :D

I went to my dads to remove the alarm, we disconnected all the wires and re wrapped them in electrical tape bar 1 connector, there is a connector from the alarm going into my bike which if i disconnect the bike wont start and i cant find no wires anywhere that it could re connect to . . . SO the alarm IS still on the bike because of these to wires....otherwise it wont start

Anyway i left my dads to come and e-mail you the latest but decided to go show my mate the RSV first as he is looking at getting one

Going up the local arrow straight empty bypass i tried it out through the box, went to 10k every time with no problems, I was thinking bloody hell the problems gone, so i tried again and nope... nothing just revved freely with no probs.

I then pulled over popped it in to neutral then revved it again where it always does what it did it the video i posted . . nope . . nothing again

I then went on a 30 mile ride to see what was going on. and its been as good as gold since, so OBVIOUSLY one of the wires i disconnected was causing the problem and hopefully that's the end of it

if you read the posts properly clive you will see that i didnt say name and shame, i think the lad who bought your bike doesnt know alot about them.
i think you knew you had a problem with it and thats why you sold it, just do
the morally right thing and at least go half to the repairs, my bike was checked over by a mechanic before i bought it, only problem ive had is a knackerd battery, witch the previous owner has offerd to pay for. :eatcorn

I have reached the end of this saga and started a new thread entitled "Bad advice and stupid comments" to close this pointless debate - if the guy had done what I said in the first place there would not have been any need for all these posts - I asked him to post to say that he didn't do what I told him in the first place - which would have solved the problem - but he hasn't - so I have put the record straight.

Hi all,
Hope you haven't all deserted this thread. I've just bought a 1999 RSV Mille. Took it to Brands Hatch and scared the crap out of myself when I kept bouncing off the limiter cranked over!! Then realised it was happening far too low down the rev range (8-9,000). Since tested on the local motorway and definately feels like it hits a rev limiter at about 8-9000 revs. Not such a newbie (I know my way round a multimeter) but really open to any systematic advice of how to track down this problem (or an expert near North London who can help)
Thanks in Advance..??
John
