Right i bought this off Morepoints from this forum. . test rode it and all seemed well untill i got on the motorway and opened her up, then at about 8k it julted harshly and scared the **** out of me, thought i hit the limiter at first then tried again

anyway this is a small vid of it when you rev it, :dunno

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bc8l6ZhsgTY

any help with be great as i have no clue with V twins and i dont really have the money to put it in my local Aprilia dealers :confused

Dr Rossi i disconnected it, before i did tho i checked my TPS

reads 0 when ignition off and on, then goes to 1 when it hits 2000 RPM

On the video I stays 0 for quite a long time and then shows -1
I am sure the ecu is not receiving the info of this sensor.
So connect diag, unwind idl screw and diag schould say 0.
Otherwise lift tank, unwind the 2 torx that hold the sensor a bit and turn it mm wise.
If it reads 0, aply a bit of throtlle and it schould read 1.
Snap throttle a few times and if adjust if nessesary then thigten the torx again.
check if connector is ok.
Disconnect diag and start engine and adjust idl.

just watched the vid and yes your right, but i have just checked again and it goes on to 1 once it gets past 2000 RPM

hmmm, i hope this is not going to be an expensive problem :(

Yep.
But please stop, go and download a user manual and read it first or find someone in the neighborhood who knows mille's

if you have access to a multi meter check out the reading of the TPS. I think Dr Rossi is on to it with his ideas.

My TPS went phut on my 2000 bike and Open it read 0.9 Ohms when it should be in the region of 2.87 -8.41. Closed it read fine.

My bike would do similar things to yours at about 5k up. Under that it was perfect.

From birmingham mate

I really dont no much about these to even start trying myself, and i don't really have the cash to hand it over to aprilia

so i think i might just have to sell it :(

don't jump the gun yet, there are some top notch guys on here who can give you aprilia mechanic standard advice, do you have any mates who have fuel injected bikes, they don't need to be spanner legends but with a bit of help its worth trying the cheap easy electrical testing stuff with a bit of direction from fella's on here.

the idle screw is on the r/hand side between tank and frame. The diag comes up because the wires have been connected, for normal road use they should be disconnected its a bullet connector on r/hand side of bike under the seat or under r/hand infill panel. Dr Rossi said about adjusting the TPS sensor, its quite easy to do. lift the tank and at the back of the throttle bodies nearest the seat you will see a black plastic connector second photo in this thread

loosen the screws and adjust as Alain (Dr Rossi) says but you do this with the engine not running. stick with it mate

Do some searches on here and AF1 forum about TPS adjustment. Anyone local able to help him Out?

id contact morepoints and ask him to contribute to the repair, if hes a decent guy then he wont mind

are you sure it`s not a rev counter problem? The engine sounds like it`s reaching the rev limiter & on the first video when the throttle is shut after rev up,the rev counter goes up to 9k briefly before dropping. The TPS reading looks a bit strange though. When throttle is shut you should be receiving a "0" on the dash. When the throttle moves off idle position,a "1" should appear....I think???

Mate, call Griff in Tamworth (01827 285500) and ask him to look at it - he'll suss it out and he won't charge you the earth either.

Thanks guys, i have e-mailed Griff and he has told me to phone him Monday, Hopefully we can sort this as i do like the RSV and would like to keep it
