My bike recently let go around the fuel pump/tank seal. Resin tank. Have got a new O ring but not sure weather to use a sealant as well or just dry fit. I tried to re-use the old one with some of that blue 'non setting fuel resistant' crap before & it was a disaster.
Any advice welcome:dunno

Ah okay. And if it is what is the way forward because the threads are set in the tank?
Thanks

Had a good inspection earlier & I'm really surprised how much the bottom of the tank had warped out around the fuel pump opening. It had dipped almost a couple of millimetres in one spot. Think I've sorted it by gently heating the areas with a heat gun & pulling back into shape.
Watch this space.

I went through this as well, not only leaking but so expanded it was fouling the bars.
Left it in the airing cupboard over winter(2014) to dry out because I was convinced
it was being caused by ethenol in the petrol. Long story short got base sealed and back
together, now can get fat fingers between tank and bar at closest point .
The quick release coupling leaked a week after refitting tank but a fuel resistant
o ring wrapped in some yellow PTFE tape (for gas) sorted that and still holding !
I now use low ethenol fuel, dearer yes, but no swollen tank
Good luck with yours and be sure to check the run throughs from the cap are clear
while you have the tank to bits .. they can be a swine.!!!!

Well lost a full tank of fuel through the fuel pump seal, removed pump and found a slight dip in the plastic where the I-ring sits.
So I've gently heated and lifted until sealing surface was flat and even.

So I've bought anew o-ring and the loctite sealant recommended.

Was wondering, do I put sealant in groove, the insert o-ring and add more drake the on top, or do I put o-ring in groove of fuel pump, and the put s thin bead of sealing on top of o-ring.

Any help would be much appreciated??
