Rear shock

The answer is probably yes however.
After going out for a play yesterday i parked the bike up got changed had a pee then went for a sig and admire the bike. While admiring it i noticed the sticker on the rear shock looking funny so i touched it and the rear shock resevoir was foooooooking hot. The bike had been stood for a good 10 mins so god knows what it was like to start with.
So my ? is do they get this hot or is it goosed. On the way home i filled the tank and road the 800 metres home thinking i had some oil on the tyres from the forecourt or had a puncture.

They do get damned hot due to the exhaust running nearby, even worse if you still have the stock cans fitted.

Ive got the stock pipes but aftermarket cans.
I wondered if the pipe work was making it hot but by this stage the pipes were coldish.

I've got to admit mate it does sound strange, especialy since you weren't riding fast :devious, only joking mucker, I'll check mine next time were out on a thrash.

That's the part bugging me, done anything or happen'anything lately? I'd check the pivots of the rear linkage for any binding or sticking and put spray lubricant on the pivots along with a good look. If nothing is wrong could it be a bent rear shock althought I can't see how it could have happen. :confused Keep us posted. Cheers.:dunno

If you look at the new bikes, they now have an heat shield between the exhaust and shock, so I'd guess its normal to get hot..
