After you have had the front wheel out follow this procedure for tightening things up to avoid stiction.

The correct method is tighten up the pinch bolts opposite to the axle nut, then do the axle nut to the correct torque. Then release the pinch bolts and bounce the forks up and down a couple of times to center them and then do everything up.If it's not done like this it causes more stiction and loads the fork bushes.

So another handy tip if you didn't know:thumbup

Good advice Badger, how did you find this out?

Poss best to get this stickied by Crash?

Known it for years, just when reading posts reminds me on small things that are easy and help us with our machines performance:thumbup

Gotta admit it but I never tighten anything up until the wheels on the deck and I've bounced the forks a few times.

My front paddock stand tends to twist my forks very slightly when the wheels out, must straighten them one day.

OOh better get myself in the garage.....

good advice badger, i have bought a few bikes and noticed if a gently rolled bike forward then braked i little, the forks were not returning back fully the first 5-10mm of travel, done precedure like you said and then the forks returned fine.
