Out for a spin with the mrs on the back today, nice little run, got pulled on the way back for illegal number plate.. just so you all know, it is now £60 per infringement, ie:- £60 for thin numbers, £60 for small number, £60 for border, £60 for not having plate makers name, £60 for not having makers postcode, £60 for incorrect spacing etc.....etc....etc you get the picture. I had 4 infringements but he only charged me for one...what a nice guy :)jack)

Watch your back if your up in West Scotland, they are everywhere, hiding in the bushes, at least 6 unmarked bikes i know of..

fooking hell mate unlucky i must admit i used to have small plates all the time letterbox ones are their favourites but have to admit on both my bikes have a 8 by 6 and 65mm letters still slightly illegal but never been stopped since.

when you think who fooking cares about the manafacturer of the plate or postcode??/??

my mate got letter through the post the other day about his number plate from the police with a notification to prosecute. so they dont even have to stop you any more!!

This takes the piss...it's all about them making a nice pot of money for their christmas party.
Waht difference does the plate makers name and postcode have to do with anything????? They really are scraping the barrel with "Infringements" there

how did that come about then mate obviously a camera somewhere:dunno
have they not got better things to do?

I think the plate makers name thing started same time as when they brought in that you have to produce logbook to get a plate made up, which is supposed to make it harder to obtain false plates.
load of bollocks really cos you can get show plates made up with no hassle, or thieving scum just nick em off another vehicle.

With all this motorcyclist harasment going on, i feel a M25 go slow should be in done.

Better not do it on a week day as no one would notice us all in the que aswell. :)

Un less the rules have just been changed, my mate who is in he police said "its a fixed penilty notice and only one can be issued" if the plate is illegal it can only ever by £60, i got pulled and they tried to issue me with oe for the can one for the exhaust and one for a visor, they have to take you to court for more than one offence..may be way off though, just what i was told

May be wrong now, but we make plates legally and never come across this one, that would mean some car plates are looking at a £1000 + fine??

Well thats why there's so much crime about ......its easier for the tossers to pick fault with a number plate......reel ******* crime that is.......******s :rant

just to add to the fun kent police are apparently having a blitz on cars & bikes for plates & exhausts:jack

Exactly, the :jack are going for the easy targets and easy money. I had 2 tyres on my car stabbed and it took the coppers nearly 3 weeks to come round even though I knew who did it and he admitted it to them. He got a slap on the wrist and I was out of pocket to the tune of £250, since had my wing dented but just gonna leave it. I was riding through the town and got pulled for "Looking over my shoulder too much":dunno
Makes me wonder why I go away to protect a country that is full of wasters and a government that want's to drain the motorist of every penny to fund their expenses and the benefit cheats.
I'll get down off my soap box now, sorry
Rant over:exclamation

and why are the authorities keen on stomping on small plates etc?

ANPR. Automatic Number Plate recognition. It's much easier for cameras to use ANPR on standard plates, funny fonts and sizes make it less effective. All well and good when ANPR is being used to flag up uninsured drivers etc for traffic patrols but sadly that's not all it's being used for. Gradually all the cameras around our roads network are being hooked up to a centralised database of traffic movement. Yep, that's right they're are in the process of tracking all vehicle movements. Which raises the spectre of automatic speed tickets when your journey time is too quick and of course road pricing by the back door. So when plod does you for £60 it has nothing to do with raising a little cash but everything to do with the encroaching police state...

I thought this was the case too but I just bought a cheap plate for my trailer off Ebay just by ordering it. How does that work then?

You dont need to show your Log Book when your buying whats called "show Plates", thats how they get round the law and sell these small/different plates. Its down to you if you want to use them illegally.

Is that what you brought Simon or is it acually legal? It might be Legal in terms of size etc but still from a company selling show plates?

The law changed on that last September. Now it's illegal to manufacture so called show plates. The place I buy small plates from has moved to Jersey to continue their business.

i dont think the postcode or makers name has to be on anymore for mot it only lasted a short time i think
