It's a simple ramp and roller clutch that basically free wheels in one direction of rotation and locks when spun in the opposite direction.

This allows the starter motor to become disengaged once the engine fires up and the RPM's spin the housing faster than the sprag assembly.

so it does the same job but in a different way to the solenoid and sliding cog on a car starter motor then ? how durrrrr does that sound eh lol

i think my rc heli's have a similar set up on the auto rotation hub ........

yup locks up and spins the engine over one way then releases the lock once the engine is spinning on its own.

Hi all,

whats the recomended starting procedure mentioned a page or 2 back?

thanks Mark

on the pre 2004 bikes that have a physical fast idle control (commonly referred to as a choke lever).
ignition on
cut off switch off
fast idle lever to full
press start button
DO NOT TOUCH the THROTTLE !!
after a couple of seconds push the lever to about 50 percent and wait until "cold" is replaced with a temp reading
reduce fast idle to around 25 percent ( leave at this for a few minutes if you need to ride staight away)

LOL exactly like your auto rotation device on your Heli.

What have you got, I used to fly RC Heli's many years ago. Had a 30 Hirobo Shuttle with loadsa carbon fibre bits. Cost around £3K

wow them pics are massive spoonz , i was setting up a shuttle for a mate of mine a couple of years ago , i was doing massive circuits with big head speed and during a very tight big pull stall turn one off the flybar paddle covers came flyin off , all i saw was something fling off and **** myself as my mate had spent a fortune on it and i was about to turn it into a plough lol .however after my initial oh **** moment it stayed up just didnt respond as sharp as before ,so if it ever happens to you your good to go mate lol great heli them, spares are dearer than the tt raptor though thats why i went down the rappy route .

you in the 3d thing ?

personally i like to make em fly like the real thing ,i got into em as i was doing my ppl for helicopters at blackpool airport ,trust me the models are a dam site harder to fly than the real thing .......

Reduced the piccy size now.

I am very much a novice and 3D is a pipe dream.
Without anybody experienced with a buddy box to keep me safe i have not ventured into anything beyond the basics.

I did get some free simulator software for the pc and linked it to my control box but the software was not very realistic.
Would like to do some more and thought about going on an intensive course as i don't think the heli is setup very well either. The Thunder Tiger motor just has never fueled right and gives constant grief.

I went to a model show at a race course in surrey once and they had the 3D champ flying a 4 stroke heli doing 3D and it was fantastic to watch. I like the scale stuff myself and fancy an Air Wolf kit :devious
