Tiz usually just the Nipples..... careful not to force anything down the pipe, cos its not straight, it has a kink in it and there is the odd story or two of em becoming detached..
Just give those nipples sum TLC once a year !
Worth checking both while your at it but for me its only ever been the tank "overfill / drain" one that bungs up.
Its obvious if its blocked, as when it rains / or you wash the bike, you will see water when you open the fuel cap - this can drip into the tank if not sorted....

Hi Felix,
Any recommended procedure for checking and cleaning them without risking them coming detached?
I am assuming you do this from the underside of the tank and not from the filler aperture?
Just trying to minimise the chances of screwing it up :banghead
- Its easier to do with an emptyish tank
- Remove Seat
- loosen / remove side panels bolts on the side of tank
- loosen / remove two front tank bolts near the head stock
- Lift / tilt tank into "service" position (i remove rear hump and use a bungy to hold the tank upright)
- At the right hand side of the tank (rear) there are two rubber pipes. one is the fuel vent, the other is the tank drain.
- remove the spring clips and then the pipes
- use a tiny drill bit to push up (by hand) inside the tank nipple
