Do you need to top up oil?

Checking the oil level on these beasts is not really precise operation, but do you need to top up oil between the changes?

What is the normal oil consumption?

What would be the best oil for the engine?

Currently running with Motorex Formula 4T semi synth 15W-50

not sure about the oil consumption, i just change mine every year.
to measure, put in around 3 quarts of oil, ride your bike for around 10 miles, get off and have a look at the level.

that oil yr using i'd say ok. i use 10w40

Yes I am aware of the checking procedure. The dry sump system is not very accurate if you want to precisely monitor the oil level I recon.

Checked the level today after winter done 2300km and seemed that the level has gone down, but as I said this is not science.

However, the old lady works perfectly and there is no smoke from the exhaust so I am more curious than worried.

Cheers

Its quite precise, after a ride, let it idle for a few seconds and check with you on the bike (or however you can manage to keep it straight)

If it eats oil it depends. Last season i did 2k km without adding any, then my head seal went puf, startet leaking oil a little bit, had to add around 2dcl per 1kkm. Fixed it at the end of the season after around 12k km.

This season i switched from full synth to semi, first 1kkm had to put around 2dcl+ in. Now a have around 3kkm in this season and no need to top it up and she was ran hard on the track. (strange :D, I blame it on the oil change)

If you will run it hard it will use some oil it is a v2 engine afterall, but not too much :)

I use Motul semi-synt 5100, 15w50. Before Motul v300, but for the price diference I rather change it 1kkm sooner :)
