sometimes on tick over the oil light will flicker and sometimes stay on, even though the oil is showing fine on the gauge, soon as you rev out it goes, im worrying a bit about it, oh i 2002 rsvr

put my mind at rest please

Could it be the oil pressure censor , a common problem with the mk2 anyway not sure about the mk1 mate

could be the pump as when its at idle it wont be at a high enough pressure but when you rev it, it will be producing enough pressure to turn off the light. this is mostly common if the pump is worn however it could be a wiring or sensor fault if your lucky. whats the milage and what oil are you running.

8k not sure of the oil as i didnt do the last service, oil is a quater from the max level, what is the best oil to have, maybe i should change it, was serviced only a month ago, but like i say unsure about the oil type, some one else mentioned the sensor, anyway of testing the sensor, to confirm maybe the pump
cheers
glen and thanks for reply's

Was the pressure alright before the service if so They might have left something out of the filter or fitted the short filter in the large housing:dunno

if its on at idle but goes off when revved then i would have thought the switch is working. you may have to get an oil pressure guage on it to see what it is producing at idle. how long have you owned bike as it looks like the one i seen in m&s a month or so ago.

i the m and s sign in the avatar is a dead give away, and your right ,not had it long, also had a chew with them, just to get the fork seals done, im used to jap bikes but had a go on a friends mille and liked it so here we are, drove a canny deal with the purchase of it and it is a nice clean bike, like i say its not all the time, and you just need to touch the throttle and its gone,

thought it was. when i was looking at it the forks where weaping oil so they must have cleaned it up before giving it to you. so do you not get any kind of warranty with it then since you got it from a dealer. how many miles you put on it since you got it.

i spotted the fork seals straight away, also, just checked and i did pay the extra for 12 months waranty, its got great history , nothing major in amongst the receipts and 2 previous owners with near the same ownership time, the fork seals were a bit of an eye opener, ie wheelies and stoppies, but a bit searching found the seals not to be the best as standard and not much life span in them, i like to know what im on about before i contact them, and have some responses to the're '' it hasnt lit up'' seems fine'' problebly the sun shining on it''

lol yeah ohlins seals aren't designed for bumpy roads. i used the gsxr 1000 k4 seals which people recomend. well if you have the warranty then that should be covered. does it do it all the time when idle or is it only occasionally.

occasionally,, and just a flicker , do ya get down the wild foul on a wed or sunday, chocka with bikes, have just met another lad on here buffalo bill aka billy , sound bloke, us notherners ort to meet up, ya wernt on the hill the day were ya

yeah we should do. well i would defo get it seen to sooner rather than later as they won't charge you for looking into it. not heard of the wild foul, but my main route is normally up heartside and occasionally kielda and hawick it scotland. i do fancy a change of scenery though lol. i work in newcastle and pass westgate road often. your only down the road from me i live at flint hill, dipton.

just a quick question. is your front wheel dead on centre or is it slightly to the left. i.e are your discs in centre of caliper or more to one side.

wheel looks dead centre to me, same distance from the disks to the forks,i the wild foul is near nissan, the meet is in the bird trust car park, wed and sun from 5.30, burger van on site , some go for a ride out but most just stop for crack,

dipton, passed through yesterday as i went on the stanhope/alston route yesterday morn,

oh well somethings up with mine then. are you up heartside much, don't think i've seen your bike up there.

hartside, been up a couple of times but not on the mille, no sign of any flickering of the oil light today, unusual in it

hope you get sorted with the wheel, have ya been riding it a while like that

since i got it. around 4k mile. just noticed it while back but thought it was my calipers sticking but then thinking that the calipers aren't sliding ones the pistons should still push out the same distance so i messured the spacers etc. which aren't the same distance. any way just been out to heartside today and then across to helmsley, mint ride like, was with 2 zx6r's, r6 and tuono. they ride fast as f**k though but the r6 rider used to race superstock. the good old mille still keeps up even through the tighter bends they do pull away slightly mid corner though. need to get my bike handling properly, having the front wheel more to one side doesn't exactly help as wheel alignment would be out.
