Oil Leak - can anyone help please?!

Hi Jussi

No its just not possible to remove the seals without removing the casing. Removing the casing is not a big job. Once you remove the casing you can punch out the old seals. You can then replace the oil seal and use a flat bar to press the ceramic bearing on.

Yes you are right. Checked the Haynes manual yesterday evening and it is not a big job. I need some bits and bolts tough. Seals are rather expensive up here so i probably order them from US or if there is a reliable shop that ships to Finland from UK.
The hole is there for a purpose as we earlier discussed. If one of the seals fasil it will let the oil or coolant out so that there will be no mix of liquids. It is pure bad luck if they both fail.

My case the normal rubber seal is sweating a little. Coolant is clear and oil does not have marks of water in sight tube or in the old oil (changed recently).

I will follow the sweating and order required parts to be available if the symptoms worsen. Otherwise the job will be done during the winter. Maybe clutch plates and springs at the same time so that it is done for next summer.

Hi Jussi

The tricky bit is getting the new ceramic seal on, it must be pressed home. If you don`t have a press it can be done using a piece of aluminium about 150 long 15mm thick and about 50mm wide.
