oil confusion !

still a bit confused about best engine oil, 15w50 or 10w 40 semi ? (2002 mille r)

I believe some people use 0/50 and 5/50. as long as its semi synthetic. the 0 and 5 grade oils are thinner when cold and thus reduce drag when cold starting, we don't get hot enough weather to require the 15 grade oils.

Major, why are you still confused about the correct oil? Aprilia recommends 15w50 semi synthetic for RSV Mille, Mille R, RSVR and Factory.

Not that I'm an expert or anything ......... Dealer gave me spec sheet when i got bike and just carried on with the same lubricants....

Also use Dot4 clutch and rear brake fluid ..... every b"*&$)d 500 mile ..... :rant so me clutch and rear brake work ......... rant over

It can't see how 10-40 would give any detrimental effects but why not just stick with the recommended.

Thanks all, 15w50 it is then, i was a little confused after looking thru various forums, poeple were recomending thinner oils for easier starting and less clutch drag, but think i'll stick with recommended when i change oil (no idea whats in it now)
