Fitting my new front indicators and noticed the left fork seal is leaking . The forks were modified by k-tech but i assume the use the normal seals . Im quite handy with a spanner and will try most things but dont really fancy doing the forks . I heard something about using gsxr seals ? So who would you recommend to do them ? Back to k-tec (and im guessing pay a premium) or Griff maybe ?

There not ohlins and i dont trust my local Aprilia dealers . Im located in northants and tend to drive as part of my job all over the midlands !!

I heard that if you give them a push during the winter when the bikes stored up it can prolong their life.

A bit late fir you noo though.

im half tempted to try it myself .. its just the seals and oil ... but i dont wanna screw it up . but taking the forks off for a week and leaving the bike like that dose not sound like fun either

If they're not ohlins, it'll be a 43mm showa.
Easy enough to do, but you'll need to fab yourself up a fork compressor.
A seal driver is required too, but again you can make one up.

I have a new spare 43mm seal if you're up for it, PM me your details and it's yours mate.

i need to both really as dust seals on right fork are perishing ... and they havent been touched in 7 years so im guessing they need a service . checked on ebay and lol at the price of spring compressors .. £80 for 2 bits of tube .. i will dig out my manual and see what it says about changing oil/seals .. see if its summit i want to try.. but ty for the offer of the seal !!

Ok gonna do it myself~!! anyone tell me the air gap for the 43mm showa ? and a best guess of the weight and amount of oil to use .. think they were set up for a 12stone guy but im more 16 now !! tia

Well done on taking the plunge. Nice bike too m8! Doesn't quite match up to the 'ghetto stand' though! ;)

PS: Who told you to take the bar ends off for the fork removal! :lol

lol@barrends , I used to keep it in the house so had to ride it in through the front door.. was no issue on my gsxr1000 but the tuono was tight so took the bar ends off .. They were r&g ones and i left them on the stairs and her indoors thought they were junk and chucked em in the bin :/ I am planning to fit bar end mirrors if i can find a decent set so there will be something there !!

a dod o wood is a great tool tae hae in yer lab, very versatile.

Heres mine in the guise o an Abba stand when ah sorted ma mucker Slomos leaky Ohlins. As ye can see ah hae the full set o dods. Thir metric by the way :tounge2

...an this is the dods o wid travel set....note specialised tapered dod for those finer adjustment jobs :thumbup
