Well we have all had some close calls in our times, this bloke caught his on camera.

Bellend got that all wrong eh, look where he is when he approaches the corner. Ffs, close call and a damn fine recovery though :thumbup.

Yep, your right there nob, every corner entry he is in the wrong place, Looks like a case of trying to keep up with mates and not riding to his ability. And worst of all he nearly takes his mate out at the end

Agree with Nob corner entry is all wrong. Some guys shouldn't be riding fast. Should have been way out left for that corner. Look at the coppers riding and they'd have been out on the other side of the road for that corner to get better vision around it.

He is chasing his mates to keep up .
He needs to slow down and learn how to get around them bends.

I wouldn`t mind having a ride on that road myself.

he was lucky the cars didn`t take evasive action

Yep to all of the above. Its the main reason I dont go in for riding in a group any more.Had some big 'ol rideouts in the past with loads of crashes, near misses etc.All of them folks riding way out of their comfort zone, trying to keep up.

Right looked at this video a few times now. Classic sportsbike rider mistake. Fast on straights, slow in corners (not everyone I realise either). Look at the speedo to see what I'm on about. He's down to about 50 on some bends prior to the incident and up around the 90's to 100's on the straights. Well looks like he hit about hundred on the straight then braked coming up to the corner and stood the bike up which is why he went straight on. Seems like the boys in front were keeping at a more even pace and he was playing catch up.

I like to stick to about 70 on a big group ride out when I'm at front cos people at back will always end up going faster than the front runner. Dont ask me why but always seems that way. Usually when I have a ride out and me and Stix go for a meander around the Welsh roads and I end up going a little faster than I should I'll slow down and make sure I can still see him in my mirrors (as I tend to know roads around me better always go to the front). After all motorbiking is a pretty unsociable hobby until the coffee stops anyway.

I agree. He's trying to cut the corner which is making him slower around the bends and slower exit.

Then he nails it and doesn't slow down enough early enough & is a lucky lucky boy!!

I quite often find myself behind somebody or in the middle of the pack. As Bay says I quite often follow him & not only does he know the roads better but sometimes goes quicker around the bends than I want to go. Doesn't mean I sacrifice lines/positioning to catch up as the bloke on the vid does very unsuccessfully. Either he'll slow down or I will nail it for a bit BUT I will not go uber hot into every corner like that muppet :thumbup

Hmmm I can why he was in the wrong position on the las corner......oncoming traffic! So he moves to the inside a bit, probably realises that he's too far right, tips the brakes and she sits up and now he's in trouble. To be honest I've done the same myself. Just last time home I was going down a local road like I've done a 100 times. Thought "hmmmm too fast" I touched the brake, because of this I had left my turn-in a fraction too late and skirted the white line, cats eyes all the way round. Truth be told I've went quicker round that bend, but I was smooth all the other times. This time of course, just felt a **** coz my arse was nipping the seat all the way round.

Almost did the same thing on a freshly oiled 20 mph hairpin that had just been rained on. The front end started to go (and NO, I wasn't trying to ride fast!!) so I had to straighten up and almost into a Toyota Tundra truck... Right behind me Dandy D was flat tracking his FZ6 and I had seen G's 999 get squirrely in the back end as I was trying to shed speed. I agree with the synopsis above though... classic kid ****, slow in the corners and then gassing the straights... exact opposite of how us Auld Fogeys ride.

it's the classic "***** on a sports bike moment"...all he had to do was push the inside bar a tad and lean the ****** over, it WILL go round !!

You're right save. Looks like he just didn't have enough experience. All the gear no idea. When yountipnthe bars surprising how quick the bike tips down isn't it. Just by moving body weight around a little bit makes it turn smoother and quicker

Yer right there bay, it's easy to criticise someone when yer have the experience and the knowledge that it brings. Not all of us are gifted with a talent that doesn't require both the above from the start. I hope the dude learns from his experience on the vid just how close he came to never going home again. If yer want to play wae the fast boys do it on a track.

Aldo thats why I wont chase people who've been riding longer than me. I've been riding only three and a half years which isn't long. Biking is different than driving a car as it requires much more control of the machine and much more though. I learn summat new every time I ride. I'm not the quickest neither am I the slowest but I ride for myself and within my comfort zone even on a group ride. If I'm faster I'll wait if I'm slower I'll catch up at the next stop but really all I'm out for is a nice safe ride with no accidents.

found that vid quite scary, seen toooo many peeps over the years do the same thing, me included but never ever so out of control i couldnt correct it if need be, hopefully the guy learns from it and winds it off a little and at least learns a lesson that maybe might save his life when lady luck aint being so kind on him.

or, as i so pesimisticly think, the ****** half witt thought it was well funny and put it on utube to show off to his twatty mates, if that the case the best thing he can do is at least carry a donor card and pray he dont take some unfortunate soul with him.

r, that's the way it is for me with everything I've done and everything I'll do, I've nae talent at all but I work at it constantly.

I forgot one time I managed to roll a *** at a set of lights and light it wae ma gloves back on afore they changed.

Not somethin I'm particularly proud of.

Also had a phone conversation on rush hour Kingston Bridge M8 while moving at 5mph on ma bike. (hand held wae caberg lid).

Oh feck I'm doomed.
