Hey ya'll. Ive been a member of TLZone for awhile now and am purchasing another **** for my "harem". A 2003 Touno. Im getting it for a decent price and has approx 13000 miles. So here goes, what do I look for as far as weaknesses or problem areas? I wont leave it alone, of course, so what are "THE" mods to make? I understand it a relative of the RSV so what do I want to pirate from that bike? Lastly after searching here and a few other places can you tell me what parts fit from the somewhat tricker factory bike? IE suspension, other tasty bits like wheels and such? Okay, enough for now, I await your responses and guidance. My TL really did a 180 with the Zones help, can we do the same with my new ****? Thanks all.

Cheers, Matt

Tell us what your thinking and we'll jump in accordingly ;-]
What you thinking, power, performance, bling ?
Lets see the TL then we know where your coming from :thumbup

First three things for me I spose would be, cans/cans, airbox and a proper battery. Assuming the suspenders and stoppers are ok that is :thumbup

Get modding.

I believe there major service is at 12k so check that's done if not griff will do it for I think £305 and set your throttle boddies up and suspenion for free.

PCIII - for power not sure if the map 2 is for gen 1 but a full exhaust i.e arrow or akras.

if not griff will do it

lol, you're not the ugly, hairy Griff are you? Every thread you've posted on today has mentioned his services :thumbup

Need an 'Am I gay or is it natural to molest little Louis when on tour?' thread, he'll have the answers to that one :lol

how do,

clutch slave cyclinder
alter gearing 16/44
180 rear as opposed to 190
ohlins rear
uprated battery (motobat seems to do the job)
uprated starter solenoid
rewire charging circuit white and brown connectors from reg - rec
map2 (involves cutting a wire apparently) and exhaust

there is also a fix for dodgy low speed pulsing front brakes but find out if yours has the problem before worrying about it...

and thats about all i can think of

Well, unfortunately pics are unavailable right now as Im having pooter problems. So, it has M4 pipes reworked brakes from an R model front suspension done with R forks and heavier springs to support my "svelt" 250lbs. HeHe. Have done the airbox mod and have a PC2 installed. For a 2000 TL/S its plenty quick and makes great torque. I love the way it handles and motors about but have always wanted a Priller. I got to ride a RSV once and came away impressed as all hell. I pride myself on my prowess as an educated rider from both class and experience. Nows my chance at the Priller and want good info on what works best in a street environment. Of course the bling factor will have to be done from a subjective point of view as everyones tastes vary. So what Im after is some knowledge on the hard parts like exhaust,pc and airbox mods to sweeten the punch without losing power across the rev range. Will be doing a weight loss program for myself as well as the T. (Ive seen it called that here somwhere) Ive read a good bit tonight and my eyes are tired but have learned alot from all of you. I do appreciate any and all insight.

Welcome laddie. As the owner of a '97 TLS I have to say that my lil' Andiamo is my fave. That may have something to do with my "svelte" 20 stone, and the hardware in me elbow. I cannae take the supersport pos for to long so the TLS is just for rips around town. Have a great deal of fun... the rest of us do!!

Thankyou Wolf. Yes, thats why I decided on a more upright positioned bike. But it had to have soul and spirit, most of all a v twin motor. Ive had plenty of I4s. Most were okay but nothing ever spoke to me like the v. I find them intoxicating along the lines of a good scotch. Just cant get enough of them. Ive already read and gleened alot of great info from here. As a "yank" I sometimes have to reread some of the posts to understand whats being said but find myself among really knowledgable folk who share a common passion. Ill be here as long as you can stand me.......................then a bit longer.

Welcome to this amazing place of worship. You hit the nail on the head when you said "I find them intoxicating along the lines of a good scotch. Just cant get enough of them" I'll drink to that.
Enjoy the site & the bike

Calling all Tuono GURUS..........So as I said its a 2003. What bike part years are compatible? Looking to replace the rashed swinger and exhaust. The fook that I bought it from put crap on it and so loud its unpleasant at any RPM. Also its a little flat with power. I assume since he put pipe on and no reboot of the ecm. So going back to stock exhaust but would like to PC3 and exhaust. Id like to replace rider pegs also. Any x ref to other years? Bike has LSL risers and Renthal bars, very cozy. yeah, rear brake is ***** so what rearsets will mount cylinder proper ? Am I mad? Havent even owned bike for 2 hours and am modding! Fookin love the power and the way it revs like a two-stroke! Yeah...............................................IM HOOKED!!

Looks good, got any more ?
Where you from anyhoo Wilee, the wild west ???

Nob, yessir Im living in NW Indiana after roaming about the world for a bit while in the military. Planning on posting a welcome home shoot and then a series of pics showing what mods are done. SSTARD, I would go that route except the guy I got it from hasnt got the baffle. He did give me the stock exhaust but looks like itll have to be cut to get the core out. So I believe a two piece rear is needed or mebee a full twin system.:drool I would love to find an Akro full *** system.

"As a "yank" I sometimes have to reread some of the posts to understand whats being said ..."

Hey WC min, fit like loon.... ah jist dinnae git whit ye dinnae unnnerstan, it ah reads aricht tae me....:thumbup

Wilee, nice bike mucker. I heard one of them gp exhausts on ytube, they don't half bark at yer.

Rico, Getting much better at unnerstanding ya'll. We all have motorcycling in common no matter what language or dialect WERE ALL LOONS! I tried ACME but they only make stuff for the new bikes.........*****!
Aldo, its alot louder than whats on ewe-tube. Id be okay with it actually but think nit needs backpressure on the mota to run right.
Nobs, yeah Im not keen on the look either.

Thanks all...................meep meep

Wilee - cracking looking bike, have fun on it and keep us up to date with the mods.

A fair few of us SW England /Wales T loons are hooking up for a forum ride over in Wales this weekend - we'll post some pics after so you can check out the rides this side of the pond :thumbup
