New top speed

M

mark58

Its to be hoped the ECILOP don't take the registered top speed as gospel as mine showing highest speed to be 188 mph..Must have been all flooded roads, as went out this morning and speedo on zero, after a few miles it started flashing all sorts of speeds until it started working fine again..Must have been wet and eventually dried out..

Good ride over to Lincoln and a lovely day for once..Off to 'Bowes' museum in the morning if dry at 'Barnard Castle.'

i've just gone up to 42t rear and i reckon she'll top out at about 140 as i've gone 15t front

i know but honest i now feel as though i'm missin a gear
but the slow stuff is great n easy to live wi

in fact tomorrow i'm gonna top speed her to find out

I've got a 01' with 15 44 gearing and wont do more than 151 but gets there in the blink of an eye!!!!!

top out at 140 ! are you mad ! i switched to 15/42 a few weeks ago and have seen 160 with more to go !

what top speed did you get with standard gearing?

I had 15/42 last year in Spain and had 143 showing and still rising but i shut it down cos the rucksack on my back was acting like a parachute and i was in danger of turning into a paraglider. On closed roads of course.

Made me laugh though that my mates cbr was reading 158 at the same speed as me.

i run 15/41 on my 04 now simply because 15/42 as agreat1 said feels like your missing a gear when touring.

mines 42 rear as standard but im swapping me 16t for a 15t over winter.
sposed to make a noticeable difference.yeehaw

Anyone know the accuracy of the speedo on a 2000 RSV-was going to see against my TomTom, but this now seems to have buggered it's internal battery :angry

My mates 07 Factory shows the highest recorded speed on his as 188 mph.

The speedo's are extremely accurate on the RSV's....but i think your mates speedo might be faulty :biggrin

The speedo still playing up, went out yesterday and again it was all over the place, but settled down after a few miles and started working ok..Same this morning, turned ignition on and the numbers were jumping about..

This started after it got thoroughly soaked, so am assuming the first point of call would be the speedo sensor near the back wheel, as that gets all the water thrown onto it..Unless someone else had the same problem and knows better?

it's doing exactly the same as mine did before the sensor packed in there is a method of checking with a multi-meter in the haynes manual and that will tell you if it's the sensor thats shot.

Thanks..haven't got a manual but I think the library has..But it does sound like the sensor especially where it's positioned.

Do a search Mark, I think it was NeilB who put a post up on how to test the speedo sensor....or was it Black Sabbath :confused...ummm well someone has anyway :biggrin
