Glad I found the site:thumbup

Welcome!:thumbup Lots of knowledge here and if you've been lurking you already know that.:devious Be safe & ride fast.:devious:devious:devious

ah haaaaa
another victim - drawn in like a vampire to the slaughter, intoxicated, can't resist, must have v-twin blood....
lol

welcome i'm new to aprilia too (6 weeks ish). my own rsv has welcomed me with more unreliability than in my previous 5 years italian ownership, dodgy dash electrics, bizarre clutch and back brake maintainance issues, sketchy handling characteristics (my fault cant get the suspension or more probably my head properly sorted), but wow what a bike - I love the damn thing. oh and another plus, you're with a really suportive and knowledgeable forum. but get used to eating tyres and a 90 mile to reserve fuel range

Thanks for all the weclomes :biggrin
I live in Arizona, city of Gilbert just wish I had more money to put into the twin:upside

think we can all sympathise with you there buddy (except little1uk whos loaded)
at least you get sunshine 99% of the year lol.
were currently stuck in our worst "summer" in 2000 years.
we get 1 mild day to every 30 days of torrential rain.
what did you make of the 954 blade matey?

I like the blade it ran great but I could not stop it from going so fast:devious

whats this?
talk about IL4's 20 lashes for big un and the stocks for our new sonic friend lol

My fave was my 02 R1, superb handling and forgiving suspension, stuck to the road like glue

but i love me Factory, and believ me i know all about the troubles they can give you, but i wouldn't change it for nowt

well maybe for a newer model that doesn't give me grief.......

I had an 02 R1 for a few years, they've the best engine regards torque, the newer ones ar more peaky..But it blew its gearbox at 13000, and after talking to an accident investigator at the Butlins bash, he told me they strip the gearbox routinely if a fatal involved on an R1..

My RSV up to same mileage now and have had no problems at all. Well I'll forget the back brake, have given up on that for the mo..

yeah me too
used hydraulic brake bleeder, had caliper above ms
bled, tested by spinning back wheel, got decent bite, got on bike and back brake non existent......

Having owned an 00 R6 I knew the gearboxes on them and the R1's were a bit dodgy , just didnt realise it was that bad to warrant the AI's stripping them down.

I thought mine was a one off, but there used to be an R1 forum, the guy who started it wrote to Mitsui about the problem, which of course they denied existed. But after reading the posts on that forum it did appear a common fault.

Running chain a bit too tight can cause it, I think mine went because I've a pillion on most of the time, which would put more pressure on the box..

Dealers are aware of the problem also..
I don't know if they've beefed up the box's on the newer ones..

well mine was 29,000 miles when my Bro decided to throw it down the road, gearbox was clunky, especially in first to second, ut apart from that was superb

must of been lucky
