New steed

f, are yer ready fir an off road hoon yet mucker or will yer wait until the coming Arctic Winter has thawed.

I've decided that if it's going to be the predicted winter then I'm going to phone all the farms aboot me to offer my two wheeled services free of charge, Line wire checking etc etc.

Nae need tae gripe if I'm offering to be useful while riding ma machine.

AP ive watched a few youtube vids of cown quarry... looks a good place.
Saw you have a WR... is it a 250 ?, thinking of lookin for one in the new year & would appreciate an owners comments etc... (would be a older steel frame one... Ie cheeeep)

Sorry for the thread hijack PC !

Mr F, yep I have an ally frame wr250 and would reccommend it. Had a crf 250 mx bike before which was lighter but more mental and a pig to start. Wr's are tough, easy to maintain and will get you through anything. My mate had a 250 ktm which seemed to have an engine made mostly of choclate. 2 rebuilds in 6 mths cost nearly 1200 quid.

I have fell off my wr, crashed it and drowned it and all it's ever needed was oil, filters an cleaning.

They are bullet proof and steel frames ones are very cheap. Only difference I can see is a bit of extra weight.
Go for it!

sounds good.... Thought about the 450 which may be better on the road but the 250 would be more suited to me off road...

:)

Had a bimble out on the T today, called at masham for a brew then thought id have a look over to sharrow common to see if anyone was about....
Absolutely deserted,

PC - perfect for you to play on your new toy:

You can even practice your river crossings ready for an OT excursion !

:)

Perfect starter playground that Felix. I will defiantly have a run over there. It's even flat enough to land heli med when I've buggered myself up:yes

What's the plan for this ?
I am up for giving a guided tour of the Yorkshire Dales, normally meeting up at 9 ish, then out till tea time.

It would be good if those that are interested are free and ready to turn out.
We normally meet Scotch Corner / Richmond way and do a circular route, heading for Hawes for some dinner.

Sounds like Felix has a few tasks to do before he gets mobile again and PC may need a bit of practice.
Looks like Aldo will be camping out at someone's.
Any one else is free to turn up, as long as there are no more than six/ eight in total
All river crossings have a narrow bridge in case the water is too deep.

The route does not have deep boggy bits, so big knobbliest are not needed, normal trails tyres are ok.
Plenty of rocky , gravelly trails.
All legal lanes, so no danger from angry farmers.

If those that are interested are planning to have their bikes ready in a couple of weeks, we may as well wait, looking for a decent day.
It's a right laff, but you will go home knackered.

I'm up for that OT.:thumbup ........if you're leading though, will I need a tent for an overnight stay when we get lost.!?:yes

Me anall OT, I'll need to keep oot the water crossings though.

Me starter got completely buggered with water getting into it and I've nae intention of letting the same happen to it's replacement

BTW I don't need anywhere to kip, I'll be good to go back home the same day.

Dont wait for me OT... i aim to get my bike fettled next week (had to order a sump washer) but me bro comes over for a week on the 30 nov so the next few weekends are tied up.. So i will catch the next one.
Post up plenty of pics !!!!
