i its a queer one, clearances, tensioner and blades all fine, new oil sensor switch, cleaned oil strainer, new oil and filter, no ticking, then again would extra back pressure from the new pipes have any affect anywhere as the akra was straight through:dunno,

but after a few ride outs the ticking has not returned, as yet , but then id didnt always do it:dunno

cheers

Have your local friendly mechanic listen to it when it next does it, he should have a stethoscope in his tool box and will be able to pin point it for you.

Failing that grab a long screwdriver and probe away yourself, just place your ear on the end and listen away. Just be careful what you stick it on, no moving parts or HT leads. LOL

Is it not just your injectors ticking away? (Mine tick away and this is perfectly normal)

when i first bought it , obviously new to the engine sound of the mille, i was back to let the mechanic have a listen then, he mentioned injectors then and nothing abnormal, it was just in the last fortnight , it seemed extra ticky, but only at tickover, , i did think it seemed to come from the front cylinder, , it may be a concoction? of things that have recently been done, i have been out a few times on it lately and nothing, wierd in it, , i have been told to have the pc re- done, to suit the new pipe , as i was told that there would be a lot more back pressure than the akro i had on, it may be me, but i think i have lost a little of the take of umff , but the bike doesnt feel as ''lumpy'' through the gears if you no what i mean,

when i first mentioned the ticking to a local mechanic i know, he first asked , did it have a power commander , straight through pipe ect.. as he said that maybe that may be the cause, hence my thoughts of the new pipes giving more back pressure, maybe giving a quieter motor, i ,m problebly a mile wrong , and im no mechanic , so i will just have to wait and see what comes, its queer how the ticking didnt, become progressive, at throttle , just dissappeared, :eatcorn

i was just at a local meet last night , and heard a ducatti pull in , made my mysterious ticking sound like a pin dropping compared to that,:biggrin

i did find an allen key in the lower fairing which isnt mine, so god knows where thats been hiding
cheers

Strange one as it had a definite knock when you were at mine but only after it had been running for a couple of minutes. The akra hasn't made any difference to mine noise or performance wise if it helps for comparison.

I'm no mechanic either but I wonder if when you you've had the heads off, when you've put them back, you've put them back on at correct torque and thats sorted it?

thanks , so that confirms it wasnt the akro, and ya theory could be an answer, yet i would have said the rear cylinder had the easiest bolts to remove, knocking the front cylinder theory,
cheers:thumbup
