Alarm systems are being overlooked.

These drain the battery .

Unhook them but leave on (ins. purpose).

If somebody is going to lift it .they will, alarm or no alarm.

Spot on there Hector. I went to college in a British colony called South Shields and my mate had his 900 Honda lifted straight off the main carpark ... 5m infront of reception. It was alarmed and had a chain through the front wheel. The cuntstubble reckoned a well practiced crew shorted the alarm (possibly by doing something to an indicator) hooked an electric winch / and or simply picked it up and put it straight in the back of a van ...

A similar theft had been reported a month before where polite men in hi-viz jackets brushed off a challenge by saying they were repossessing a bike from a student who had defaulted on payments.

Just downloaded the owners handbook off the Aprilia website, just need to print off the relevent pages.
Going to give the bike a good look over on Saturday / Sunday.
Will have more idea what I'm dealing with in future.
Will let you know when I'm on for a run. Thanks.

Freezing cold, skin rash, threatened it with a hasty death and it fired up tonight. Kink in the fuel pipe. How that happened I have no idea.
It's now dirty as well, but tha will keep. Couldn't resist a run out.
Now, how do I reset the speedo to MPH and the clock etc, as I have no owners book to look at. And what on earth is the metal rod for that is clipped
under the seat area?

Here is a link on how the dash functions operate

http://www.apriliaforum.com/techtips/1000/dashfunction.htm

thanks for that, just printed it off, easier than the manual I downloaded. I've got to put a lead on the battery to put the conditioner
on, It seems they don't like a low fuel level either.

Must be something to do with the altitude in NW Leics.. mine is exactly the same, anywhere on reserve from cold is a big zero on the loud button.

I lived up in Buxton for five years, that's altitude. Good run up there from NWL and I can show you the best roads up there and it aint the Cat & Fiddle.
And once again, thanks for the heads up on the manual, it all helps.

May take you up on that when the weather picks up
