Hi folks, I've just bought an '03 Tuono, picked it up yesterday and enjoyed the ride home, a bit cold though, got up this morning and kitted up to go out and lo and behold the dear thing decided that it's not going to start, batterys flat now, blood pressure is through the roof, looked through the paperwork, no owners manual, no idea how the seat comes off to get at the battery. Now given up and am going to the pub (on foot)
So, does anybody know where I can get an owners handbook and a workshop manual, it would be greatly appreciated. Not the best start to the ownership of this bike.

Ey up.
2 allen keys, one at each back corner of the rider seat. Charge the battery and ALWAYS keep it on an optimate. If it clicks like fook under the seat when the battery is charged it could be the starter relay.

"Fit like loon " frae Ricoland and welcome, sorry tae hear ye huv a bad start tae yer T ownership. Have only got a pdf o the Gen 2 manual so sorry cannae oblige this time roond. Ahm sure some o the dudes oan here will huv tho.

Alarm systems are being overlooked.

These drain the battery .

Unhook them but leave on (ins. purpose).

If somebody is going to lift it .they will, alarm or no alarm.

Aye, thats ma thoughts tae Hec min, mair trouble than thir worth, then again ah live in the back o beyond wi a low crime coont and yer average tealeaf cannae be arsed comin oot here!

having had my Zed nicked from my garage i now have a ground anchor and chain, disc lock on all the time, and new doors and locks to the garage and the doors ****y trapped with 12gauge blanks. On top of all that it don't fooking start anyway so if they nick it they deserve to have it, even if they would be a little deaf. :)

I downloaded a PDF version for the Tuoldo as the one I was given was in Italian which wasn't much use. Has a few words missing but most can be read. If you PM me your e-mail I'll try and forward it onto ya.

Have just sorted the manual from ebay, a guy I used before, so should be ok, thanks to all who answered.
Another coincidence was that the wife's bulldog wouldn't go either, both dressed for a run out and ended
up walking to the pub instead, As I said elsewhere, I suspect it will need a new battery and another optimate thingy.
I am surprised that after a fifty mile run home (actually 17 miles but went the long way) that it would not start today.
I shall have to bone up on Aprilia foibles to try and get it right, that aside, nice bike to ride, grin factor is 10/10.

Put a new battery on the bike tonight, still won't start. It will be going back to the shop I bought it from as soon as they can arrange to collect it.
What else is there to do, am well pissed off with it now, two flat batteries now. Spins over but no attempt to fire.

Pisser to your new ownership mate but keep calm, awesome bikes when they run.

Starter solenoid? Had the same on my rsvr & threw away a decent battery before I realised! Bridge the gap with a screwdriver & see if it starts. If memory serves me right is to the back of the right hand side of battery if your sitting on the bike?

If any conciliation, had the same **** yesterday. Wife took the kids out, got ready for my first blast of the year & nowt when I hit launch control. Chucked it on charge, tried later still nowt. Kids home, dark & raining, yep it started.

Tip over switch. on mine thats behind battery, have you set it back in place?

Side stand switch, side stand up

Clutch lever in

Main switch on handle bar, push it in and out and make sure it works

Dampness

I hear the side stand switch may cut the fuel pump so if its not working no fuel

Freezing cold, skin rash, threatened it with a hasty death and it fired up tonight. Kink in the fuel pipe. How that happened I have no idea.
It's now dirty as well, but tha will keep. Couldn't resist a run out.
Now, how do I reset the speedo to MPH and the clock etc, as I have no owners book to look at. And what on earth is the metal rod for that is clipped
under the seat area?

Glad you got her going & are happy! The metal rod, believe it or not, is to hold the tank up when getting to the airfilter, plugs, etc... I've changed the speedo myself but fook knows if I can remember how. I'm sure someone will be along with the answer soon. Enjoy.

PS. Cadwell Park near you by any chance, lol. The T boys are out numbered by the rsvr riders!

Cadwell is a good ride out, Mallory Parl on the other hand is just up the road. I think some more bike time is needed before anything like that.
Age is not on my side anymore!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a load of destructions on how to work the digital stuff, i will scan them in when i get home and post them somewhere for you.
Not a bad ride out for us ashcorner, coalville down to hinckley across to mkt harboro and back.

Ohh, and glad to hear you got the T fired up in the end.

Pffft. Age. I can guarantee that there are some here that will hava a year or two on you. Sorry about the ****** start to your ownership. I'm hoping that it will be the last quirk for a while, allowing you tae see why the rest of us put up with the everyday threat of losing our licenses when just oot frae a wee twa wheeled frolic...

Welcome tae the Zone and all questions will be answered in an orderly and mannerly sequence. Or summat like that.
