yeah everyone is backing away from aprilia why is that ? motts too in basingstoke as well ,,,,money? parts, fashion ????

Too many strings, like have to sell some Piaggio Scooty doo's etc to keep dealership at least thats what happened with Southern Cross

Very nice in black Butch. Fully agree with the other gentlemen, the R1 sounds glorious on race cans. Enjoy squire :thumbup

Well I've had some fantastic jap crap in my time, I love big twins but nothing wrong at all with a sweet four pot and this is the closest you'll get in feel to a twin.

Love the black but not so sure about the pink/burgundy highlights ;)

Ps matey down the road got one with Akras and restrictive bit removed, sounds good..........

Rode one for about 50 miles and it is AWESOME............:thumbup

Actually i'd say with cans it sounds just like a V4...not a twin. As far as the powerband feeling like a twin, forget about it. It feels like a regular jap literbike with a bit more down low, but its really the same effect you would get with a full exhaust and a PC3...I rode one and hated the ergonomics. It feels like you're sitting right on top of the thing. I was bored with the power right away, probably because of the xtra long gears. Not really too crazy about the look either, or the finish...but to each their own.
 
Well you won`t get me slaggin` it off either Butch; saw some of these when I was on the hunt around the bike shops earlier this year, and they look awesome mate !!!

As a former R1 owner (from many moons ago), I can tell you you`re getting a storming bike.......nice one bud ! :thumbup

cheers dex i had a 99r1 when they first came out ,been searching for the right bike ...err you know the one that gells just so and maybe this is it ??? i loved the 99 [ kin mental it was but sooooo flexible an never let me down ever]

The cans and back end just look like an after thought, I know it's each to their own but I definately prefer the earlier R1's and this new one looks remarkably similar to the Honda CBR600RR.

The whole business about looks is soooo subjective though.

When the 'new' blade popped up in 08, people hated it. But they scrub up real nice in the right livery IMO. Everyone is already slagging of the asymetric BMW S but people who have seen it in the flesh think it looks right.......... Personally I think the 999 looks more original than a 1098 which just seems generic to me. To be really honest I think Prila have had their share of duff liveries......

In the end how it goes is more important than how it shows.........at least I fookin hope so lol

Would I kick the black R1 outta bed? Nope.
 
well i also looked at the r1 when i was looking sounds awsome looks the same as any other r1 fits in with the crowd(never been a fan and i know its a good bike each to their own)same as the blade that looks bland(fast though) so in the end went for something unique in the rc8 and i fooking love it :inlove for me best looking bike out their bar non(as i said each to their own! end of the day its what suits the individuals needs couldn't move away from the twin i'm afraid:devious and before people start i also have an il4 in the shape of a zx7r.
