Right here goes a rant:bawling I've had my v4 about 3 months and it's always been abit tricky gettin into neutral I've had a few bikes and I'm pretty sure it's not me! After all I had no probs with the apparently made of cheese gearbox on the superduke R I did 10k on! But this little ******* on the Ono can be a right **** to get in neutral when hot at a standstill! Also I've noticed that if u blip the throttle whilst rolling slowly with the clutch in u can feel the slack gettin taken out the chain so Im pretty sure it's slightly dragging when hot but I've checked the cable and it's got slack so why does it drag causing this neutral finding ******* prob has anyone seen it before?
I took it back to wheels peterbro and got told yes we've had this before but it's not a warranty issue and it'll cost u £300+ even tho i bought this bike from them 3 months ago with there lifetime ******** warranty!!!
NOT A FOOKING WARRANTY ISSUE????WTF!!!!!! How can this be right it's done 6000 miles and is on a 11 plate????:bawling:thumbdown HELP!

a little legal advice wouldnt go a miss here, and i wouldnt be taking it back to them either..

Legal advice? What u thinking? I have tonight emailed aprilia customer service and asked them if like wheels said its ok for u not to be able to get your nearly new 10k bike in neutral????

Wheels have a piss poor reputation for after sales service.I bought my V2T there in 2010 and had the first service/mapping changed. Was happy at the time, but I would'nt go back there again after hearing a few horror stories.
Piaggio customer relations is virtually non existant too,....good luck with your claim.

Just had a look at the V4T parts book and had a look at the exploded clutch diagram. Its a pretty basic mechanical slipper,.....I could'nt help noticing there is what looks like a revised clutch spider spring.Mebbe thats what Wheels were gonna change for your £300?Gotta be a warranty claim surely?

Wheels have offered to have a look after a snotty email to them and aprilia so gonna see what the next move is really not feeling taking it back there but gotta get it sorted can anybody recommend a Aprilia dealer that can even come close to gear4ktm?or are all aprilia dealers in the east this ***** and untrustworthy?

Cant help yer there chap. There is a dealer Kings Lynn way and Windy Corner near Leicester. No idea what their workshops are like. You might be better off takng it to Wheels if they are your nearest dealer.
'Prilla dealers often come and go,mainly down to Piaggio not paying for warranty work,....Italia Moto in Lincoln for one.

Interesting that you rate gear4.I looked at a lot of bikes before I bought my T,and was thinking of a Super Duke, but their snotty attitude to a potential new customer put me off.Despite them being only a few miles from my house,I never went back.Different strokes for different folks,I guess.

Have you sorted this issue? I have just bought a Tuono in September and mine is the same?

Cheers.

worth an ask!

Excellent, do you know exactly what the mod was, my dealer doesn't seem to know anything about it? Thanks.

I've the same problem and got the "they all do that" from wheels..... What was the fix?

Not as yet?

I was told by an Aprilia dealer in Leeds that it may be due to grapping of the clutch plates with it being new and it should subside after 2000 odd miles. I was also advised to slip the clutch a fair bit when setting off to bed it in. I have not had a chance to do the mileage or the clutch slipping as the weather turned and I've only been out on it a couple of time since. I will be attempt to do the mileage now the weather is getting better and if it does not improve I will be contacting the dealer again. Will post back here with any findings.

I've done 6500m so clutch is well bedded in . Noticeably worse recently. Serviced last july at about 5K. When engine hot, impossible to move to any gear at standstill but no problem when on the move.

I took delivery of a 2013 V4R a few weeks ago, also supplied by Wheels: due to the fecking weather Ive hardly been out on her, but on the few trips I've had, it is a real problem finding neutral: I was foolishly hoping it might improve with mileage: so was interested in your Leeds dealers comments Heppy :yes : then I read Andywv4's thread .
I'll lookout for any further updates and will post any changes re my bikes behaviour.

Cheers

When I took it in to J&S at Doncaster they adjusted the clutch cable so there was no drag on the clutch (no movement on the rear wheel when put into first gear), this improved gear selection considerably, but the clutch would then slip under hard acceleration. If I had to guess, this suggests to me that when the cable is the correct tension there is not enough movement in the lever to disengage the clutch plates? A shorter lever that is situated above the clutch would allow the plates to disengage more, but it would increase the effort needed to pull the clutch lever in? Sorry can't help any further? Clutching at straws! :)

Both the dealers basically said that I need to get used to selecting neutral before coming to a stop! And that crunching it into first at traffic lights would not destroy the box! Hmmm? :-/

Just taken mine in for a 6000 mile service, still with the clutch issue, (it didn't bed in and has got slightly worse?). I persevered and they have accepted to apply for a warranty claim to Aprilia, just waiting for the response, will post more later.
Anyone else have any more info on this?

Cheers,

D.
