Okay gents, long story short..............since I got back into biking (only) a couple of months ago on the Ape, I`m thoroughly enjoying myself again, largely due to the amazing RSVR, of course. :thumbup

As such, I`ve been looking around for a newer, fresher, less-tired RSVR than mine is, and I duly wandered into a local(ish) dealer last week, and succumbed to temptation........

Unfortunately (but not TOO unfortunately :devious), I took one of these out......

I must admit lads, it`s the finest-riding bike that I`ve ever swung a leg over. Power everywhere, handles like a dream, it`s lightweight, far more comfy than a sportsbike deserves to be, and the brakes are ****-hot (even the back one too.....:biggrin)

As ever though, no IL4 ever sounds as good as a twin, and certainly for sound, and possibly looks, the RSVR comes out top..............maybe ? :dunno

Having said all that, I`d like to hang about on here, as this truly is a fantastic forum, and (not withstanding my wife`s serious illness), I shall still be fulfilling my commitment to the Griff sticker thing, as it`s all but finished now, and just needs some input from Oli, and of course Griff.

Okay, I`m expecting some MAJOR stick here, so let`s be having it.......:pirate

(By the way, it`s not in these colours; mine`s black and white, but I couldn`t find any decent pics of that colour, and it`s a used one, on a `58 plate)

Edit: Almost forgot, I pick it up..................TOMORROW !!! Yeeeeeeeeehhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!

Sigh, another one deviates form the path of righteousness - did you PX the Mille then?

nice :thumbup i think you will always be welcome m8 even if ya got a c90
ps hope alls well with the wife

I liked the design of the 04 -07 blade but this new one looks like it's run into the back of a babboons arse and squashed it's nose in!

To be honest though mate if you like it you buy it, we won't hold it against you. I'm sure they ride lovely as jap bikes do I just find them I little too good and they just do not stir the passion in me that a v twin does. I went from a factory to an 04 R1 and whilst I loved the R1 for it's awesome capabilities I still came back. Now if I could afford 2 bikes? The grass is always greener an all that.

You've got to go with your instincts. If you don't try it you'll regret not doing. If you love it you'll be glad you did. You can always buy another rsv when you realise you have made the biggest mistake of your life.

Whatever you choose mate keep in touch and hope to see you out on.a ew rideouts next year.

what an excellent choice, at least you wont have all the aprilia hassles, the blade is an awsome machine . its almost to good and lacks character. but i dont blame you for buying one you wont be dissapointed i should know i sell them :thumbup

Not my cup of tea with the nose looking like it ran into the wall and arse on has gone a diet but hey, if puts a smile on your face then its worth every penny in my book.

I had a 99 blade was let down buy the lack of thrills it gave after everyone said you must get a blade.

Enjoy it buddy.....

Thanks for the replies gents ! :thumbup

A303: Yes mate, PX`d the Mille, and did alright too, only lost a couple of hundred quid, which I`m happy enough with under the circumstances, plus the Blade is priced right too, compared with what else is around in dealers. Well-pleased with the deal TBH !

UkMatt: Mate, thankyou very much for your comments re the wife, it`s very much appreciated ! :thumbup

Vinny: Yes mate, almost TOO good really, as you say. Time will tell if it retains my interest, but it felt so efficient at what it does.........."awesome" springs to mind !

Good choice - ironically, I am thinking of getting a 954 to keep the RSV company. :devious

Cheers Spud........and I`m sure I`ll be out on a rideout with the Northern lads at some point next year, at which point I`m sure someone will take GREAT pleasure in showing me the road somewhere, and reminding me that I should have kept the Ape ( I believe there`s some fookin` quick riders on this forum :dowhat )

Must admit, I`m like a kid waiting in anticipation for tomorrow, and I just HOPE that it stays dry for when I pick it up.........? :doug

In some circles mate, the 954 is reputed to be the best Blade of them all, but I`m not able to comment, as my last Blade was a 929. Sounds like the best of both worlds to me, a Mille AND a Blade ! :thumbup

Hey MUD,this woulda been my choice over the CBR. :nana

LOL, and I`ve no doubts mate that the Gixer will be equally as awesome.

As I said, I was actually on the lookout for another RSVR, but when I went in, the Blade was in there, and the dealer said, in those immortal words "why don`t you just take it for a spin, see what you think......", and like most bikers, I wasn`t going to turn down the chance.

The rest is history, as they say, but it could well have been the same result with any of the latest models, or, indeed, another RSVR, had they had one in there.

Just shows though, that my wild goose-chase for 300 miles last week, when I went looking at a newer RSVR, just wasn`t meant to be.........:dunno

Ah well Dex, at least you won't have to go buy some sleeping tablets to send you to sleep now :nana

oh dear me dexter . what have you done ?

my mates got the same as your getting b and w also on 58 plate he loves it but sayin that he is a total mong :nana

And my mates got an HRC one - there's a vid on YouTube I believe of him trying in vain to keep pace with the mighty MILLE :whipping

C'mon DEX

The Firelade forum will be filled with cardigan wearing, pipe smoking, cash lading older folk who choose reliability n'stuff over......ah an Aprilia

Riding these bikes will decrease your skill level, you will become more interested in the straight bits, which will inturn require less effort etc etc..

Cant you see your missing the point.............oh hang on, maybe we are :dowhat

Enjoy, if I had the cash (and a small arse) I would have one as well.

BUT HOW YA GOONA MOD THAT THING!!

:thumbup

Not nearly enough **** being given here and you do deserve it, with me being new Ill hold back. They are an awesome bike confidence inspiring pitty you couldnt keep both enjoy.

power everywhere?? :dunno
comon' now...I've ridden just about every 1000 out there including the new blade and here's what I thought.

It's a jap 1000 with classic jap 1000 power...slightly better mid-range than most, but still very peaky and still no torque...2nd gear power wheelies without clutching are a struggle at anything under 7k rpm, and even then you're going to get a good amount of head shake even with its electric steering damper :puke

The handling is amazing tho I must say. Handles exactly like a 600 and weighs about the same as a R6. And I can't stress this enough, this bike is EXTREMELY easy to ride fast.
Once again the japs do it again with a good bike that handles great, great power, and in the case of the 1000rr, some unique characteristics....however...

ITS UGLY, ITS LIKE SCHOOL IN SUMMER TIME (NO CLASS)...AND ITS AN I-4 WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE TO SOUND LIKE AN ******* TO GET ANY POWER OUT OF IT ON THE STREET. OH AND EVERYONE AND THEIR GRANDMA OWNS ONE, OR A KAWI OR A ZUKI, OR A YAMI.
sorry mate, its a great bike in its own way as are all jap bikes, but damn...if you buy one of these you've missed the whole point of owning a superbike on the street. IMO of course. The only way I'd put my life at risk riding something as ridiculous as a 9 OR low 10 second motorcycle for the street is:

a. You're riding something that sounds like the world is coming to an end.:devious
b. You're riding something most people don't see everyday, or no one else has.
c. You're riding something that every time you look at it, or give it a nice blast of throttle a big smile comes across your face.
d. You're riding something that has passion, has been well built, true character, and a lineage that started and will end with racing...not by a company that also makes mediocre cars and wave runners.

rant over....
Oh by the way...the new R1...rode it a few months ago...same as my first paragraph :jack
