Pleased to be the proud owner of a RSVR 2002 model. Bought the bike off a fellow site member who is an absolute diamond bloke.
- For sale photo, as she was when I picked her up..
The day went as follow... as I said to Sean, It will be a first date with my Italian super model to remember that's for sure!
Left our place at 5:30am 22/12/12 - To catch a train from Portsmouth harbor to Bath Spa to change for another train down to Plymouth... As you may or may not know the weather forecast wasn't great which orange and red flood warnings. After getting on the second train at Bath Spa they announced that the train will stop at Taunton and can't go any further due to flooding and a signal failure, the advised that a coach service would be operating but will lead to 3/4 hours delay on ETA. My original planned ETA was 11:20. Sean, the previous owner kindly imagined himself in my situation and drove approximately 80 miles to pick me up! We got back to Sean's to view the bike around 1pm. I must say I am impressed with the overall condition of the bike.
Sean even offered me lunch before I made my way off on what was meant to be a 177mile ride back to Portsmouth which I expected to take about 4/5 hours given the weather/road conditions on a new bike.
So I set off...
The weather was terrible, it was pissing it down.. http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/PIC...y-heavy-rain/story-17655972-detail/story.html
I managed to get myself lost, with no sat nav and my phones gps refusing to work ended up some where near exmouth in country lanes, trying not to stack on gravel and mud covered roads. I stopped off at a pub, to ask for directions and they recommended the M5, M4 and then A34 down to Portsmouth.. Sounded easy enough and being fed up with the weather thought I'd go for it.. I had about 10m visibility on the M5, I was wearing textiles but at this point was soaked through.. A few red bulls and a chocolate bar later I was back on it.. Due to road works and not being able to read the road signs I missed the M4 junction! Ended up at Junction 14 when I realised the signs for london had gone..
I didn't arrive home until 8PM and approximately 240 miles after leaving Plymouth!!
The Fireblade is no comparison to this amazing piece of machinery, it holds its line so well, is rock stable and the engine and electronics performed perfectly. I was also quite pleased with the comfort of the bike, but I am a bit sore today haha.. The speed and ease at which it changes direction amazed me. Cant wait for dry roads and summer rides! :smilie
This is the condition of her when I arrived home..
Gave her a well needed clean today and some well needed ACF 50 treatment :thumbup
I didn't get the wheels as clean as I would like as my stand doesn't fit. I want to get an abba stand, going to wait for a second hand one to come up me thinks.. I need to get some better cleaning clothes as mine have left fibers.
Needs a service, as I have no money for the bike right now the oil and plugs will need to wait until the end of Jan. But I will be checking the valve clearances AND applying chain lube at my earliest convenience.
I also want some gold radiator covers..
