Pleased to be the proud owner of a RSVR 2002 model. Bought the bike off a fellow site member who is an absolute diamond bloke.

- For sale photo, as she was when I picked her up..

The day went as follow... as I said to Sean, It will be a first date with my Italian super model to remember that's for sure!

Left our place at 5:30am 22/12/12 - To catch a train from Portsmouth harbor to Bath Spa to change for another train down to Plymouth... As you may or may not know the weather forecast wasn't great which orange and red flood warnings. After getting on the second train at Bath Spa they announced that the train will stop at Taunton and can't go any further due to flooding and a signal failure, the advised that a coach service would be operating but will lead to 3/4 hours delay on ETA. My original planned ETA was 11:20. Sean, the previous owner kindly imagined himself in my situation and drove approximately 80 miles to pick me up! We got back to Sean's to view the bike around 1pm. I must say I am impressed with the overall condition of the bike.

Sean even offered me lunch before I made my way off on what was meant to be a 177mile ride back to Portsmouth which I expected to take about 4/5 hours given the weather/road conditions on a new bike.

So I set off...

The weather was terrible, it was pissing it down.. http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/PIC...y-heavy-rain/story-17655972-detail/story.html

I managed to get myself lost, with no sat nav and my phones gps refusing to work ended up some where near exmouth in country lanes, trying not to stack on gravel and mud covered roads. I stopped off at a pub, to ask for directions and they recommended the M5, M4 and then A34 down to Portsmouth.. Sounded easy enough and being fed up with the weather thought I'd go for it.. I had about 10m visibility on the M5, I was wearing textiles but at this point was soaked through.. A few red bulls and a chocolate bar later I was back on it.. Due to road works and not being able to read the road signs I missed the M4 junction! Ended up at Junction 14 when I realised the signs for london had gone..

I didn't arrive home until 8PM and approximately 240 miles after leaving Plymouth!!

The Fireblade is no comparison to this amazing piece of machinery, it holds its line so well, is rock stable and the engine and electronics performed perfectly. I was also quite pleased with the comfort of the bike, but I am a bit sore today haha.. The speed and ease at which it changes direction amazed me. Cant wait for dry roads and summer rides! :smilie

This is the condition of her when I arrived home..

Gave her a well needed clean today and some well needed ACF 50 treatment :thumbup

I didn't get the wheels as clean as I would like as my stand doesn't fit. I want to get an abba stand, going to wait for a second hand one to come up me thinks.. I need to get some better cleaning clothes as mine have left fibers.

Needs a service, as I have no money for the bike right now the oil and plugs will need to wait until the end of Jan. But I will be checking the valve clearances AND applying chain lube at my earliest convenience.

I also want some gold radiator covers..

Well proud of my new bike :bigok

Glad you had a safe trip home. The bike looks nice. A bit of anal retentive cleaning always makes you feel better after a long wet cold ride :thumbup
Enjoy it matey.

Looks sweet mate, did you manage to turn the service light off?

Mark

Cheers.. I haven't tried yet actually, thought I'd leave it until I had done the service. I did set the shift light and change from kmh to mph today though. I couldn't find the lap button? Wanted to set the clock..

Been reading up on the oil change.. not as straight forward as the blade..

Can't wait for my next ride..as soon as my blade has sold I'll get in touch for the bits I need.

Your journey sounds a little like mine when I picked up my bike from Swansea, except that I put mine in the back of my van like a big girl. Still got totally lost on the way home thanks to sh1tty Nokia phone navigation.
Re the cleaning, I think you missed a bit behind the shock.
Your bike looks ace mate, bet you're proper pleased.

No you need to use an EGR (Exhaust Gas Analyser) as on these beasties you "balance" the TB's on CO2 and you have to have a different reading front to back.

Can I use a carbtune vacuum gauge for syncing the tb's?

Got to agree with others, she has been well kept for and does scrub up nice. well done.

Looks very nice. Hope ya enjoy it. The lap button is the headlight flasher button on the left handlebar. Well it is on my rsv don't know if the rsvr is any different but wouldn't think so

Thanks for all the replies. Cheers for the links above just checked them out. Will have a butcher's when I'm next in the garage as the bike won't be on the road until the weather clears up. I am itching to get out on it.

Don't suppose any members have a gas meter I could borrow? Are they cheap to get hold of? I did wonder what the bolt on the exhaust pipe was for. All this technology on a bike is new to me...

Merry Christmas all.

You have a gas meter in ure house ;-P (unless ure oil of course)

But a flue gas analyser does read co, co2 and o2. So can you use one of these ??? Or would you need 2 to do the front and rear at the same time??

I have one but can easily get hold of another, i wont be able to get hold of a ega like..

woodzy fyi a fga will cost somewhere between 400 to 700 quid.

If you are only measuring co2 on gen 1 bikes then a fga should do the job rite???

I am only in Gosport if you need a hand with anything!
I picked my 02 up from Liverpool and also travelled up on the train from pompey!

We are on electric only so no gas meternal lol. Sound expensive to me.. sounds like I will be needing a hand front griff.

You had yours long gregorious? Worth the trip though eh! Happy Christmas all!

Got mine at the end of June.
Already done the exhaust collector mod, Gabro chip, K&N filter, 99-00 inlet rubber, -1 front sprocket +2 rear sprocket, double bubble screen.
Bike is very good, a decent battery is a must for these bikes.
Mine is not the R but it is still really good in the bends, really stable and holds its line like its on rails. Really quick out of the bends and the 4 pad brembo brakes are very good indeed.

Sweet, as far as I know mine has had all the restriction mods done such as the collector box, earlier air box fitted an a k&n and a double bubble screen.

Where does the chip go? How do you tell what chip is installed? Did it make a big difference? Have you had yours on a dyno? Can you recommend a local one? We should meet up for a brew when the weather iimproves.. do you go out with other rsvs?

I'm looking forward to trying the brakes and handling, my pads are fresh and couldn't really test the in the wet!

Where does the chip go? In the ECU as below.
Standard Chip.

How do you tell what chip is installed? open it up and look.
Did it make a big difference? yes much improved power delivery and noise.
Have you had yours on a dyno? Nope I dont have a Power commander so no point really.
Can you recommend a local one? There is a place in Southampton ill get the name off my mate or join up on PBmagforum and ask there.
We should meet up for a brew when the weather iimproves. Good plan.
do you go out with other rsvs? No I go out with a mixed gang of peeps or on my own.
