just brought an 08 tuono factory
i am gonna do a sidestand mod i understand that a honda one will do the job?
mine has come with a set of akros but unsure if its on map 1 or 2 can i get into the dash to see what map its on? i need a password?

my my my i had a jap bike a gsxr 750 but fk me this aprilia is way way way much more fun lower down and further up:)

only way to check for map 1 or map 2 is to ake it to youl local friendly aprilia dealer and get it plugged in to the diagnostic machine

code for gettin intae the diagnostic screen etc via dash is 13432, jist fur info. As Charley says, u unfortunately need hitched up tae diagnostic unit to confirm map1 or 2 tho

Also, the US Aprilia stand is far better than ours (apparently), you could look out for a second hand one on ebay. Just bought one myself.... should receive it in the next week or two...

Hello mr fun factory...i just brought one too! just getting into now bloody nice bit of kit i reckon.
Whats whit the side stands then? are they too short or something? do they fall over???????

Stands are pants, have a really poor rake. Good gust of wind and they can blow over - hasnt happened to me, but seen a few threads where it has...
Carefull if you get a puncture, i got one the day i bought it (rear tyre) and had to hold it upright at the side of the A19 for an hour while i waited for a recovery truck. It would not stay upright on its own.
Tiz a quirk, tiz Italian !

funny as i have only just got my tuono, it has a few marks on o/s like its been over , not up the road just fell over i reckon hmmm i wonder....**** hope it dont fall over in shed on other bikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The base of the standard stand sits too close to the bike, hence it falls over way too easily. The various other options above sit the base further away from the bike making it far more stable.

That reminds me. I still have a Fireblade stand in the garage to fit when the bike comes back at the weekend.

yeah they sit upright a bit to much
and yeah what a bit bling the factory is i got brand rossos on mine supersticky tyres they came with the bike also akros and oxford heated grips would i go back to buying a japanese bike no not realy!!!!!!!! just gonna keep it well clean this ones not going out in no **** weather:)

Re: the sidesand, another option is a guy called bubseywoo on ebay who has stands made up for Tuonos, about £40 IIRC. I had to wait a couple of months for it to come through (he has them made up in batches - makes sense) but it is way better then the standard crap stand and well worth the money.

Here ya go:

sounds good but would like to know if it inteferes with sidestand engine cut out switch as i read a story about a motor guzzie (griso)owner who bypassed his sidestand cut switch(i think because of some design flaw?) the side stand came down when he was going around a corner coz he by passed the cut out the engine kept going he lost control and had a head on and got killed.this was the police verdict after a full investgation,

Nope, the standard cut-out switch fits onto the new stand, so no safety issues there.

I've just fixed mine...

see...

For what they can be blagged for secondhand off forums & fleabay, the US stand is the correct fix. I got my 2008 US stand for £67 delivered from Tampa Bay.
Bargain imho...

My advice fwiw, is to fix it now...don't wait for your bike to go over...£70 is a small price to pay to save yourself £750 in my case....if I'd had my thinking cap on, I'd have swapped stands 12 months ago, when my bike had a slow puncture in the rear tyre...thankfully, I discoverd it leaning against the shed wall...and not on it's side...

Those European stands are a bastid.
