taking a road trip this week coming...

any info would be great...

All I know mate is that it drinks it like it's going out of fashion  and I wish I was only paying the same price as you do for petrol :rant lol

who cares, its a sports bike!!, just fill up between grins! MPG is for BMW riders.
(if you must ask...60-70miles to red light if I'm going for it, normal riding about 100, mods fitted and lowered gearing mean it sups fer britain)
cheers Ck

If it's for BMW riders how do you know carbon lol I haven't got a clue, just know it's not as good as some sports bikes, but I didn't buy it for good consumption :devious

Taking it steady around 115-120 miles till the light having a blast prob around 90

ck

Also knew the RSV is thirsty and with the mod's done it gulps the stuff. However what is the MPG? You got me interested now. Infact was it supposed to be before the mod's?

thanks BEAR, for a real answer,,,, the only reason i need to know the mpg is.. im going ridding in the states on monday for 2 weeks.. and some places i have to go 144 miles before i plan on stopping again for gas.. so for me it;s around 240 kms i need to go on a tank of gas.... im going to talk a friend into bring with him a 5 liter gas can,,,, :thumbup

driving all the way down the west coast then over to the grand canyon then to vegas for UFC... then up to the Rockies and back to British Columbia...

Bear wouldn't know the blast mileage, he's known as mr Daisy lol (only joking mate, I know I told you the mileage lol):thumbup

If I get over a hundred miles without the light coming on I'm doing well. Map 2 certainly increased the consumption on mine. Neitzsche, I'd DEFINITELY take a fuel can with you. I wouldn't even TRY to do 144 miles between fill ups :thumbup

ya i have after market exhaust on it plus racing mapping... not going to help the fuel saving any... i'm hoping the race mapping won't effect the mpg in 6 gear with revs below 4,000,, i find high octane gas helps with the mpg...

With me carring your kit and all that carbon fibre making yours lighter thats the only reason your in front:2finger :lol

If I remember well I think I saw 200Kms on my first ride, had ridden a little while with the light on, now I cant remember how much fuel I put at the station. For sure I was not empty but how much left, I have no idea. If you have the time do a test run...

average is around 38MPG , its good on motorways , it'll do 46MPG, in town it'll do about 20mpg, its all because the long gears , if you in town you get it hardly out of second gear so you can't expect a great consumption and it needs quite a lot of fuel to turn over on idle , when you sit in traffic/lights.

the best i've seen is 120 with the light on permanently.

cans map 2 and changed gearing -1 +2.

most of the time its about 90 miles so i guess you will need your extra fuel can.

on a long tour I manage around the 110 to the light but as I found out it WILL go a long way with the light on, I managed 140 miles in Scotland last year and still had about 2l left in it...
mine also is -1 front +2 rear, open cans and map2, PC3 with custom map....:thumbup

just got back from my trip and found out that on the highway it average 200kms;; 120 miles until the gas light.. pushed it up to 260 kms.. 160 miles with 1.5 liters left in the tank... it likes it around 130 km/hr to 160km/hr....
worked it out that at best 46mpg on highway and at worst 26 mpg racing around town with the revs around 8 to 10,,,

did 5,500 kms in 8 days... from BC canada to the grand canyon and back..

went from max oil to min... need a change big time when i got back...

drop the front teeth to 15 from 16... better at lower speeds... gonna see if it helps the mpg in the city..

4.5 US Gallon tank...I get about 130 miles out of it...there is about 1 Gallon left or more when the light comes on...I don't think I've ever put more than 3.8 gallon in the tank and I've ridden with the light on for quite a while...so long I was getting really nervous! I just fill up around 100 miles or sooner if it's convenient or if I want a smoke or have to piss.

Nietzsche, could you post up the route you took? I'm looking at a similar thing later this year, flying into Seattle to ride the whole Western coast route down to San Diego, then hanging a left and heading across to New York. I was planning on around 6-8 weeks. More than enough time? If it wasn't for pesky US visa restrictions i'd of already been out there! Miserable toe rags that they are.

To quote the **** at the US embassy at interview time...."Sir, you should be able to see all you need to see in a 90 day period"

Apparently "Is that an excuse to speed?" isn't considered to be a funny response...:roll

Any pics from the trip? :biggrin

we took the 101 down to san fran.. crossed over on the 580 cause i wanted to go to an aprilia shop... got back on the 580 and then the I-5... then i think the 46 or 64 over to vegas....

take the 101.... great road for bikes... oregon is great along the coast... and the road at the oregon and cali board has loads of long turns that u can do high speeds on... go to the grand canyon worth the trip.

tried to up load pics... file pics to big
