More Crash Bobbins Questions

Badger put a pic up of his bike after a 110mph spill, so hope fully he or someone here can tell me the answers to my next 2 questions:

1) Where does this bobbin mount onto as it seems to have taken more impact than the rear engine bolt type, and do you need to do any mods to the bodywork? Also, anyone know where to get them from and prices?

2) found this on fleabay, but the listing says it wont fit my spindle as mine is a 2000 model, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Aprilia-RSVR-FACTORY-TUONO-01-08-Fork-Crash-Protectors_W0QQitemZ260376528350QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item260376528350&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A4|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Anyone know why this won't fit mine as i thought they all had the same spindle setup?

cheers in advance guys

Front and rear on to the engine mounts. You'll need to drill/cut the side panel to mount the front one ... which reminds me, I've got to get round to doing that myself (already mounted the brackets).
00 and 01 are different apparently - I think they use different mounting blocks.
For the back ones, these Click are good and much cheaper than the brand name ones. For the front, you've got to go R&G or some other named make - not cheap but you occasionally see them second hand on Ebay.

Have found all the ones you want on the R&G Racing website http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Aprilia/RSV_Mille/2000.aspx excellent products and does make your bike look pretty trick to :biggrin

As per your other post, it took me a while to get used to mine, bt when you do you forget they are there. Brought my RSV from a guy who'd dropped it at 50 mph mid corner. Got bike checked over before buying it and only had to replace both engine mushrooms, swingarm bobbin and bleed nipple on the rear caliper, end can and polished out some surafce scratches from the fairing panel. Total cost £152 courtesy of flea bay :thumbup

R&G are THE BEST if you have a spill, their design stands up to more abuse than others, worth the extra money IMO.

The spindle ones are not so important to go for R&G, i got some of ebay i think they were about £17 inc. postage.

I am not to sure about the mounting for your bike mate, the bracketry/mounting blocks is different for the different models, you need to make sure they are the correct ones for your bike:thumbup

I have r&g's fitted at the rear engine mount, and have another set on the rear spindle, now looking for some for the front spindle and after seeing the condition on (1) i thought i would investigate further.

Crash mushrooms...

Can anyone give me the dimensions of the r&g front mushrooms?? The guy on ebay sells the rears but not the fronts... he is however, able to make them with the correct sizes :0) The mounts are there, but the previous owner must have mashed them to oblivion!!

Be grateful of any help........

Cheers :0)

What year is yours Ian? I can give you the dimensions for the 01 (when I get out in the garage tomorrow). In fact, I'll swap them for one of those milled-from-solid-titanium sidestands you've promised to make us all:thumbup

D'oh!! Mines an 04 plate......... Thanks for the offer tho.... :0)

Solid titanium sidestand has been sent in a home made space rocket made purely from a lemonade bottle. Expect to take delivery within the next few light years...:pirate
