he said a similar thing to me, they COST a couple of quid, but if sold they are WORTH £30. So they are worth £30 to the business, even though the mistake has only cost him the raw materials. It just saddens me that people like this with great products and a great work ethic and customer friendly approach then lose profit due to poor practice. He should be making loads of money, he deserves to, so do we all lol!!

Carl sent me an email today. I quote.......
Hello Simon, just had a look on there, whats he mean talk, cheeky sod.I could do a club discount, and spindle bobbins if members can get the patterns to me.I will do the first ones free for the patterns.I know we had some cockups on this batch,I didnt know there were some old race ones left in the stock.Emma who does the post for us got in a muddle.I just went through the bin to make sure it wont happen again.I do my best to make sure everyones happy, some can be proper w*nkers on the end of a keyboard.I make enough to give a bit away now and then.Check my neutral feedback.I sent him nearly a complete set of bobbins extra in one off bits, but his drawings were wrong and he left me that! as I said I would love to work with the members if they have decent patterns that I can use.I dont normally give out my number, but the workshop is xxxxxxxxxxxx.Bit paranoid about being known as a chaterbox now. Cheers Carl.

anyone got some R&G spindles or live near Dereham in Norfolk and want some free spindle bobbins (thats a guess based on the phone number he gave me)?

oops... :biggrin

I seem to have offended him too, so I'm shutting up now. I was just making an observation from my point of view and I'm sure he's taken note of it. He's now monitoring this thread. Good old internet eh?

well... just for the record... ...

im always optomistic... thought there must of been a reason for the slow reply (ie TT)... once he explained... i had no problems... he's a geniuenly nice fella... & have no problems leaving 'positive' feedback on E-Bay... & i would use him again no problems... so anybody else thinking of buying these... dont hestitate... dont let my experience put you off... the guy came through @ the end... top geezer !! :thumbup

.
Everyone makes mistakes but it's how they rectify the problem (i.e., when they've already got your money) is when real customer service shows. I had a query with mine and was pretty impressed with his response

Says it all really. I don't know if he misinterpreted or just focused on the negative sides of comments, but I think if you look through this thread I think the general impression is a positive one.

YAY... just fitted them... perfect fit... very snug... they look like they'll do the job easily... took 15mins... used the original nuts as told earlier... piece of piss... even if you have big shovel hands like me... you defo need a ring spanner slightly offset though !! :thumbup

:doug

It took me slightly longer because I checked which one fit which side then picked up the wrong one and put it on the right hand side then went to the left and realised I had the wrong one and started again lol!! Word of advice to anyone else fitting these, put the left hand one on first and you won't have the same problem, as only one will fit the left side!! I used a cheap Halfords bought 15mm ring spanner, no problems. When I fitted the allen headed bolts I used an allen key to hand tight then applied a bit of metal tube for leverage and did another half turn. Seems okay so far!

same here... tightened with Allen key by hand then a slight nip up with the ring spanner as leverage !! :thumbup

took awhile to get use to them being there... as they are exactly where i put my legs down... & feels very weird in start/stop traffic in town... but im slowly getting use to them... hop i dont hit anything head on though... they will probably break my shins !!

lol. Got bruises all up my shin.

Foxy, the link is on the first page of this thread. Email him and ask. If not, either you or one of the others could go up to Norfolk and he'll measure up and normally with stuff like that you get the first set for free.....He's a very genuine bloke and I'm sure he'll help. Just tell him you're from here...

Ive got these on my race bike. had 3 fast lowsides on them and they saved the bike from any serious damage. good bit of kit.

Getting a bit low now so might have to get another set..... or stop crashing.
