I'm looking at an RSV on fleabay. The seller claims 111bhp and 69 ft lbs torque. These figures seem a little low. Can anyone tell me what they should be in standard form?:confused

What do you reckon if its still restricted? Its a dutch import so it min't not have been fettled just yet?

Not sure how they are restricted to be honest. It may indicate another issue though. These aprilia's are known to have the odd niggle :biggrin:biggrin:biggrin

hmmm on paper the new uns are 143 bhp, and i think the old shape is about 23 bhp...:devious sorry could'nt help meself think there about 118 bhp...ish

the restrictions are in the airbox, standard can and map1 i think.
does seem low that,i think its sposed to be around the 126/128bhp mark at the back wheel if all is well and runing correctly, same as a 98 r1,according to RIDE mags buying guide.
has it got any mods, race can ect?
if so,ask if the maps been switched to map2 mate.

Hi there gixerhowie. Is the seller claiming the figures from a dyno print out? As the figures could be true rear wheel based figures, which will be lower than the "official" figures as these are measured at the crank in general.

Let me get this right, the new RSV R's are supposed to be 143 bhp at the rear wheel. Well thats worrin g since mine just made 126 on the dyno with mod's or am I missing something?

true,i think they claim about 139 bhp at the crank in most cases forthe "CLASSIC" design lol.
either way,it doesnt sound alot for these bikes but mine absolutely flies.
so dont be to worried, pity you cant test ride it first.
makes a change tho, most sellers go the other way and claim 9000bhp.

Rear wheel max power figures expected from all model year RSV's and RSVR's in standard unrestricted form

1998 to 2000 RSV MILLE 110 to 112 bhp
2001 to 2003 RSV MILLE 114 to 116 bhp
2003.5 to 2005 RSVR and Factory 120 to 122 bhp
2006 to 2008 RSVR and Factory 122 to 124 bhp

Most of the modifications you do to these bikes, with the exception of major engine work, will improve mid range power and torque i.e power where you will use it most. Even though you gain a few HP at the top end of the rev range, it's the through the rev range HP and torque figures that are more important for both part and full throttle

more than enough really aint it, trouble is the more pies i eat my power to weight ratio is going *****:biggrin

I hope i've not started something here??!! He doesn't say if its off the dyno or not. What about the torque figures. I expected it to be around 70-80?

that sounds more like it legs.
as said, more than enough power for our crappy roads,id only spend more money making it smoother to ride and handle better/sound louder.lol

the thing is the RSV may not be the most powerfull sports bike out there on paper but what makes it good is the way it delivers that power :devious
