Hey guys I got an 03 Mille and it generally won't start. It can be stood for months and it will fire up no problems, but 95% it will turn over but won't fire up! I've read some posts on here and already got the better battery, the yamaha starter relay, also it's had a full service Inc plug change. And now I've got to the point where I'm running out of ideas. It was dropped last summer at oulton park but nothing mega, was thinking of the tilt sensor rut was fine immediatly afterwards and for the remainder of the summer. Your suggestions are most appreciated. Aaron

dont touch the throttle before you start it, and put the choke on.
I find if I touch the throttle it will never start afterwards

Yeah it's kept on one of those optimate jobs. It turns over well so don't think is a power supply issue.

Hi yeah I agree with what your saying, I've owned the bike for 2 years now and it's never done this to me before, was thinking maybe the damp from the winter but is kept in a heated garage.

How old is the fuel, might be worth draining the tank and putting fresh fuel in, it can go off after 6 months or so.

Yeah sounds good will give it a try, I'm thinking along the lines of fuel or ignition issues..... Cheers

Bit of an odd one but worth a look, I had a simerla problem with mine and I tried everthing it turned out to be a problem with the idel/choke cable to start with the cable had broken so a new one was fitted but I was still haveing problems with the bike not starting so a friend of mine had a look and it turned out the cable hadn't been adjusted correctly and it was causeing the bike to flood, maybe worth a look, oh and strip down your starter button and give it a bit of a clean sounds daft but they do get full of crap which means it doesn't make a good contact i've had this on both my mille and my old blade. Worth a look anyway.:)

Is the fuel pump priming?

Check the fuse under the seat.

Has it got an alarm/immobilisor?

Thanks for the input I've took apart both throttle cables and the choke cable As I've had the tank off today gave them a generous amount of oil. But has made no difference. Starter switch seems to be in good order.

what i've done so far...

new plugs + leads
full service
drained petrol and replenished with some fresh juice.
checked idle settings
checked choke cable
new bigger battery
yam started solenoid.....

its now got to the point where im paying a garage to pick the darn thing up... having new sprag clutch, valve clearance, new rubber, new chain and sprockets and most importantly find out why it isn't starting.

will report later when and if they find out the cause
