Ive just bought my self a mettel shed to put the bike in so the wife can have the kittchen back.
And would you beleve it when it arrived my mate was with me .. and said I wouldent put my bike in there if I was you ..
Apparently thay cause a lot of condensation has eny one on here herd this or no somthing about it .
Because its still all boxed up. and cost me a fortune.
But if its going to ruine thw bike ill have to get rid and get sumet ells

i prefer a wooden shed personally... they do tend to condensate quite a bit.. my yard is the same, although it has a plastic roof.. but it's because they don't seal right... if you put the bike under a cover in the colder months, and try your very best to get a good seal with a mixture of expanding foam and silicone sealant then it mightn't be too bad... the choice is yours...

I was going to line it with wood for the shelving ets
Do you think that will help

You need to ensure good airflow, insulate the walls with kingspan(cellotex)leaving a gap behind to allow airflow, put in high level vents, you can insulate the roof but still leave an airflow gap,and tubs of salt with no lid on suck up moisture from the air(I cant remember the name of the chemical sachets that do the same).Personaly I would see if I could return it and buy a decent wood constructed one, or better still build one out of thermalite or concrete blocks with a simple pitched or flat roof,I built mine out of thermalite blocks with a cavity and a pitched a roof rendered it and dot and dabbed plasterboard to the inner walls 16ftx10ft less than a grand to do it all

I have the same issue with my gun cabinets ... to prevent guns suffering I have drilled holes on the base and top of the cabinets, lined with carpet tiles and draped a sort of canopy above to stop cold damp air striking down.

The key is ventillation and insulation ... insulation alone makes matters worse.

I have heard if you stick the polystyrene (the thin stuff you put on walls before paper due to damp)on the walls and roof all will be OK plus 2 big holes for vents

Polystyrene tiles are good

Just `sticking` the polystyrene to the walls will only move the condensation to the inner(internal)face of the polystyrene and would be running down the walls quicker than the vents could disperse. An airflow gap is the only realy effective way with a metal box.I would use gripfill or sticks like **** to fix kingspan sheets keeping a minimum 15-20mm gap behind them and cut out areas for shelving tool boards etc and stick ply in these areas, then I would stick 12.5 square edge plaster board over it all paint it white using vinyl silk(easy to wipe down)and place hit and miss(the closable/controllable type) vents low and high to encourage good airflow.

If there’s moisture in the air, better that it condenses on the walls of a metal shed than on your bike!

Better to cure the problem than have it in the shed causing secondary issues
