Meta Alarm Problem

A

amb67

My beloved RSVR purchased a few weeks ago came with a Meta 357 TV2 alarm fitted.

Regrettably the previous owner had no fitment certificate, no spare key or fob and no master card.

The security company I contacted told me (If you have no documentation with key serial number & company code, you will not be able to get another remote.)

I'm not too happy riding around with only one remote fob and now I have no chance of getting a second one am faced with only one option - REPLACE.

What have you all got fitted and what issues have you had etc......

I quite like the Datatool S4-C1 'Red' and fitted at £255 seems quite cheap.

Well that's OK for you up in Lancashire but down here in Kent a bike without an alarm is a fond memory.

I travel to London on the bike sometimes and dare not leave it without the alarm activated.

Might be worth checking some other companys , i'm sure i had this done a few years back without a fitting cert.

it might also be worth checking with your insurance company , if you have discount for fitting an alarm they will require some proof of fitting god forbid anything happens to bike .

try these peeps http://www.bikesecure.co.uk/pages/about_us.html its not the ones i used but worth a try , i will try and remember who did it for me .
EDIT +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
sorry matey i've just found this site that does confirm what you were told about the code sorry

from experiance a good lock and chain is worth its weight in gold because no fooker gives a toss when they hear an alarm a van soon muffles that sound 20 minutes told me so:eek: even in sleepy lancashire :thumbup

From experience too, i've found that alarms arent all that they are cracked up to be. my rsv had a datatool alarm, i think it was a series 2 alarm, but dont know what the model was.:confused anyway, my problems with the alarm was that it drained the battery too much if it hadnt been activated or even had the bike nudged just to make sure the alarm was working. so in the end I had it ripped out and replaced with a ground anchor and heavy chain. it does the trick :biggrin:thumbup:devious

Datatool system 3 on mine with no issues :thumbup or Fond memories :biggrin I liked that statement

I got my Meta alarm from here.

They come to your house to fit it as well.

Danf1234,

That's the site I was looking at, only problem for me was that you have to be within 120 miles of Peterborough to get the home service. I am 124.5 miles away so may call them and see what they can do for me, it's only 4.5 miles after all.

Did they do a good job on your Meta?

After reading many sites on alarms etc.... I will probably go for the Datatool S4-C1, fitted by these guys.

I've had Meta 357T on my older Mille and the current one has a Datatool System3. Both the Meta and the Datatool have performed perfectly. The Meta would be my choice as the alarm blipper was installed into the Aprilia key which was a godsend, however the new Datatool System 4 has this feature too now so it i guess it would be take your pick on price. Most alarm faults are down to poor or incorrect installation so make sure whoever fits it knows exactly what they are doing

Yeah the servce was brilliant and the alarm is excellent.

I thought you just have to pay a little extra if you are out of the boundry. Just give them a ring and ask. They were ultra helpful when I bought mine.

The prices are good too.

Where is the best place to tap in for the power to run that particular alarm system ol mate?

A few years ago I lost one of my alarm fobs, and got another from an electronics supplier,,RS Components if I remember, as long as you had the original fob you could programme the new one from that frequency..£25 or thereabouts..
Things may have changed, but worth looking online to find out..RS or Farnels or any electronics company..

Cheers Mark58,

After speaking to a Meta alarm specialist I have been told that to add a remote to this type of alarm you need a code card, so it's a strip and bin job once I have the dosh to replace it.

Thanks for your input though.

Decided that if I get the alarm done whilst I am in work in London then I will be within range of MHSS1st who seem to be far cheaper than everyone else.
