May be worse than I thought.

I think I will stick to my Austrian for the moment.

Not even the Garage Queen Ducati has had any troubles like this so its not an Italian thing, Just an Aprilia thing. They've let themselves down on these V4 engines, they just dont have the reliability the older Rotax twin had, its such a shame.

Unfortunately it is an Italian thing, the Jap stuff really will take abuse but European stuff has and never will be as good, but saying that the European stuff seems to have a bit of soul and not feel so clinical but you are more likely to have a big bill as has been demonstrated

I have just had a refund from the bank for some mis sold PPI, so I will be getting a Jap replacement while I wait for the Tuono engine to be repaired. They are starting on the bike properly next week, when it is repaired I will be selling it to pay off the repairs

Hopefully you don't have the same issue as I did then, Because the valve had damaged the Bore it couldn't be repaired and I have had to replace the whole engine, it was cheaper to do that than rebuild the engine.

the bore is damaged on mine, needs a new case or engine, i haven't found an engine yet, so may have to replace the case

If the bore is damaged, it is more cost effective to replace the engine due to the fact the bore and bottom end is one piece of metal that's been machined with no Nikasil sleeves.

It's the exact same position as mine, there may be some engines around, I was lucky enough to find one.

don't know where to find an engine, any suggestions? I have tried EBAY and another forum

Maybe do a search for Motorcycle breakers, somebody may have one.

the alternative is try find an RSV4 engine , The mounts are slightly different but nothing too bad.

Bike is back with me, I cant say I've noticed the trade off of Torque in the engine, But it definitely feels a whole lot smoother low down, No more chuntering around corners.

I would put this down to the extra Injectors and cam timing being slightly different, It also has a different sounding idle... Sounds more like an inline 4 now (I know this is a strange thing to notice)

It's now the time to think whether or not I want to keep hold of her or sell her into a new home.

my bike engine was stripped down properly this week, need new valve head and new casing, he is sourcing a new case and will let me know a price soon

Finally got an engine case for mine, it only has 8 miles on it, so its effectively a new engine; I will have to run it in or hopefully sell it to someone else who wants an almost new engine. Still waiting for more parts to arrive though, so not going to be ready until the end of the month.
