low revs

hi all had the bike two weeks now and what a great bike it is likey ever min

i just have one question when riding when the rev get low down say 3000rpm i find that i have to dip the clutch abit and get revs back up,when the revs get low the bike statrs jumping.

i am not use to this having riding jap fours,is this the normal for the rsvr
 
have same trouble myself. goin into roundabouts etc. tryin to get used to keeping revs higher up using first and second longer and more frequently. doesnt help you much but thought i'd mention it!
 
Guess your bike is running stock gearing - Needs a minimum of -1 of the front and possible +2 on the rear.

Also worth having the throttle bodies set-up properly
 
from what the guy said to me when i brought it of him its got one less on the front and 2+ on the rear.

bike is with a running with a power commander it has been on a dyno for a run but i dont think it has been setup.
 
It's a twin:dunno. it has two less cylinders than a four, which are at least twice the size. it only fires twice every two crank shaft revolutions instead of four firing pulses every two crank shaft revolutions. that all adds up to lumpier running at low RPM. thats the whole point, its a twin.:thumbup if you fancy trying something really special try a 650cc single.

Got a 640 ktm get the wrong gear on that and your fillings will come out but get it right and hold on tight.

bet you give those silly jap bikes a fright!! pass em on back wheel (closed road for those shinanagans of course!)
 
its just plain crazy really ,the other day i went to wake up the slow driver in front of me with a quick rev as the bike is louder than loud but i forgot to pull the clutch in and it came right up on me in third gear!!!.may have looked ok but **** me right up.

lunatic machines. my dominators 18 years old, looks a mess but what a grin factor! would recommend a big trailie to anyone as a second bike. good for winter blues too. rain or not i'm out on it.:whoop
 
good on you chap don`t see many bikes about in the winter in these parts ,i really enjoy the rain its a real test of your skill.my work bike in y2k was a bmw f650 and i loved the big single,so when this one came up cheap i went for it

being in scotland beside Loch Lomond, my back gardens full of back roads and green lanes so be rude not to use em. neighbours got a ktm 450 and he's mental on it! (must be summat about em. gives you a chemical imbalance!) best of both worlds. cant be a fair weather rider up here, only get 3 weeks of summer!!

As Mr V8 says,

16 front, 44 rear is the most popular combo. If youve got a brand new standard chain, doubt it would work, if youve got a few miles on it your normally ok :thumbup
