Losing confidence in Tuono

S, cause all the fuds (me) suggested it.

Sounds like it's in dire need of some tlc mucker.

Don't give up on it, yer be grinnin and whoopin in nae time.

Stix ... Battery was losing charge within 24 hours ... Made the fatal mistake of not buying YUASA 18 months sgo .... Coughing and popping was down to a manky plug thats now been changed for a sparkly new one ... along with all the others ..

Am now the proud owner of a bouncing baby Yuasa YTX14BS ... that the shop kindly stuck on charge before I picked it up .... Started beautifully first time and ran without a hitch ... Damn these T's are fun

However .... ripped out the airbox to get to that elusive front plug and in the haste to try it, forgot to stick the airbox chamber doohickey (Air scoops go straight into it) ... Couldnt be arsed to take it all apart again tonight ... Question ... Do I really need it ??? If I do looks like I'm gonna be busy again tomorrow .. If I dont looks like I'm gonna be riding again tomorrow ... Thoughts Gents ....

|Glad u seem to be nearer havin fun, when U want on the T.
The more i read aboot it ,it appears the battery, for some bikes, is the key to an easy and razzin aboot life. Ok some may claim 12 volts easy enough, but the key is can they make 12 volts under load ? Sure there are technical types who can explain the difference between static and load voltage, but to be honest i am too thick.

My T was a ***** to start when I first got it. Made a fool of me the first time I took it to work and all the lads came out to see it after the shift ended :banghead

Put on a 150 amp aprilia starter sloenoid (about 15-20 quid I think?) and a uprated batt (about 65 quid) all supplied from Griff as he recommended. NO PROBLEMS SINCE !! Starts fisrt time every time, even a week or two of the optimate.

Get the proper gear on it and your faith will be restored !!! :thumbup

UPDATE ... The sparkly new Yuasa battery has had me enjoying the last few hot sunny days ..... She fires up first time .. even when real hot .. No more fingers crossed and prayers atm .. So I is a happy Teddy ...

As an aside, the battery that came off was a Blue Label YTX14BS (made in Taiwan) that I bought 18 months ago ...... from my local APRILIA dealer who recommended it !!! Looks like he may have lost a customer ...

Anyroadup ... Would like to say cheers to all of you that gave advice and told me not to give up on her ...

we refuse to fit anything other than yuasa in the workshop as anything else aint worth the hassle
plus anything that comes in with aything else fitted gets an advisory note

Quick off the wall question Charley, Where can you get the rubber bushes that fit into the recess's of the Akkra exhaust hanger brackets I've got. I'd like to lose me pillion footpegs.

I need to disconnect my alarm as if its been left off the optimate for 4-5 weeks I've no chance of starting it. Never nhad a problem whilst its been on the optimate though. Glad its all sorted now.

Ahv said it afore Bay min...ah reckon alarms ur mair hassle than thir worth.......if the scum are gonna hae yer bike thir gonna hae it.
