I had a '99 Mille

The following mods are a must:

Airbox mod - induction roar is fantastic!
14ah battery to aid starting
Ohlins rear shock - either genuine Ohlins 98-00, or an 01-03 RSVR shock with same year linkage.
As well as changing fork oil in the standard front forks - cheaper than an Ohlins front end!
Once I fitted the Ohlins rear, and changed the fork oil, the handling was transformed :)

Change the exhaust for an after market/Aprilia titanium.
Change chip/PC3.

IMO anything more than this is getting serious, possibly rearsets for comfort, but you won't struggle for ground clearance with the Mille with the standard rearsets unless you're getting your shoulder down in the corners!

Also for a nice light clutch, go the billet MPL Tuning Clutch Slave Cylinder
