Exhaust will be fine, how much did you get it for?

Mines got an end can and link pipe that I can't identify but it sounds awesome, so it's staying put.

Do the seals now before they spew oil all over your brakes!!!

The RSV engine is a little RAW but that's what we all love about it, isn't it?

I got the exhaust off ebay for £58 inclusive of postage
Its carbon can company can with dual outlets

Ive taken the db killer out of one of the outlets and it sounds grunty.

Ive been busy with the bike and given it a mini service myself
New NGK iridium plugs (It was a pain changing the front top plug but managed without removing the airbox)
Changed oil (Putolene 15w50), oil filter and airfilter.

I'm still a bit concerned about engine noises even though my local dealers mechanic has checked my bike and test rode it and said the noises were normal.
I hear a heavy ish tapping sound all the time when the bike is warm, but I guess this is normal if the aprilia mechanic says its ok

Now I've put a few miles on it I have a few more questions

What are the stock front and rear suspension settings and height settings for a 2003 Mille R (Ohlins)?

The engine doesnt seem to like pulling from low down but pulls ok from about 3.5k
Its pretty steady but unremarkable from 3k then seems to come into a definate power band between 6.5k and 10k rpm, does this sound about right?

I'm on 17T/42T sprockets at the moment but will be changing to 16T/44T as soon as poss. Will I need a longer chain?

Anyway im loving the bike, it handles superb and has plenty of power for most situations

Cheers

Stu

Stuuk,

Sounds like you have done the right thing, service etc....

Don't worry too much about the engine noises, these engines are pretty robust and if the Aprilia man says all is ok then no worries.

What you're saying about it not pulling appears to be gearing related, you'll notice difference once you change and about the chain length, just search on this site and all will be revealed.

Have you not got the user manual for your RSV, suspension settings are all in it. If no then you can PM me and I'm sure I will have them somewhere for you.

ok change the gearing 15 front
suspension needs to be softened off in most cases
go to file vault for manual - but be prepared for ohlins to back off as its a little track focused for t road
manual settings are irrelevant you need to know how to set up static and rider sag yourself

good indicator for forks is to wrap a cable tie around a fork and test, you should have 20mm of travel left on forks after full braking
