Just bought an '07 R

Ask around, I'll bet that there is someone that is willing to lend you a van or trailer to go pick up your mate. I'd take a car if possible. A van might have a pretty harsh suspension and trust me, people that have had a chest tube do NOT like to be jostled. Make sure the poor sod has some decent meds (not just tylenol with codeine) like oxycodone, to get him home. Good luck.

Cheers all

Mates a bit stuffed - turns out the health insurance didn't cover bikes and the breakdown recovery didn't cover accidents so him and the bike are stuck in France for now. Hopefully the comprehensive insurance willl bring the bike back but he may have to get the train (can't fly following the punctured lung!). May be easiest to hire a van and go and pick them both up.

If you've the time, that's a win-win. You get another nice trip to the Continent, and he gets home without further stress.

Mate came back on the train with wife in the end - probably more comfy than a van anyway. Speed triples being repatriated by the insurers but is probably a write off (clocks, bars, tank, silencer all totalled).

His EHIC card onl;y covered him for 80% of the cost of the french hospital stay so he's well out of pocket. Still, he's on the way to full recovery and due to be out of the sling soon and already talking about a street tripple R for the spring.

Cheers

Chris

Glad to hear your mates on the mend!

He could always buy the bike back from the insurance and do it up save some money.

Fuggit... intro him to a Tuono and he won't be chasing after that Street Trip...mebbe a year or two old, but still the same price as a new Trumpet...
