Jet40????

.40 fits all years - Smaller hole so less oil in clutch pack. It was too much oil causing the drag.

Liken it to wading in a foot of water and then 2 ft water. 2ft harder because fluid adds drag.

Spoonz thats so much easier to understand. I like the simple explanations, not that im a numpty :biggrin but the simpler the better :thumbup

Soon as i get paid I'll be ordering this and some cush rubbers from rsvr.net and give your name as reference :thumbup

Help!!!

In the middle of doing this mod with bike in bits outside, i struggled to get it to turn so i warmed the engine then it budged.

THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN LOADS OF OIL STARTED LEAKING OUT!!!

WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG AND WHAT DO I DO NOW?

once i realised to much oil was coming out i put the bolt back in with the jet still loose behind it.

PLEASE HELP!!! :dunno

You do get a bit of oil seeping out the jet hole, maybe let things drain down for 10 mins and try again..........do you have a cocktail stick ready, makes it easy and quick to replace jet.

i know what your saying mate, about 2-3 table spoons came out once i removed the Bolt but once i released the pressure from the jet the oil must have been behind it and it just started coming out really fast, like half a cup so i quickly put the bolt back in.

this is normal? that amount of oil?

yes i have a cocktail stick but cant even see in the oil because so oily.

:dunno

When i did mine bud it was stone cold so maybe walk away for half an hour or so and loosen it again, might need to let the oil fully drain into the sump to get minimal coming out the jet hole! Sure it'll be fine bud when cold..........:thumbup

ok thanks andi, i just went back quickly got the old jet out and put new in, lost quite a bit of oil though.

that cocktail stick worked a treat even though i couldnt see what th fook i was doing. :thumbup

Cool bud, least it's done now.....just check clutch and engine oil levels before you head out.

Thats the beauty of the cocktail stick, you just need to stick it in till it grips then pull!!!

All sorted i think now Andi mate.

Oil levels all ok and went out for a quick blast to try it out, there is a noticable difference when gear changing, a lot smoother. :thumbup

Tell you what, that old jet was well and truly in there i was worried i would mash the end of it up as its only brass.

One thing i will say is i havent replaced the crush washer and i hope ive done the bolt up tight enough, will have to keep an eye on it in case it leaks.

thanks again mate :biggrin

Excellent bud, glad you're sorted...............Pleasure bud..................:thumbup

Replacet the jet, but have one question :)

Do I need to use any kind of loctite to put the bolt in again?
