Keep an eye out for this months PB mag, for a write up of new V4t v V2t.

Ok, so they don't actually say the V2 is better but......

V2 and v4 make the same torque and power all the way to 9k revs, and the V2 makes more between 4-6k revs. Black V2's make loads more as well. Of course after 9k the v4 completely disappears.

They were using a 2008 v2 factory and commented on the ohlins being better than the v4's sachs suspension.....not to mention the lighter OZ wheels on the v2.

Ok all that will be solved by the v4 factory next year, but that will be at least £13k and the 2008 v2 can be had for £6.

They are in no doubt the v4t is the best new bike of 2011.....but on the road the v2 is not miles behind, if it is at all.

LOL, I`ve only had my T for 2 minutes, but I said earlier in the week that I didn`t see how Aprilia could improve on the V2.

What a bike !!!!!!!! :thumbup

Look forward to reading that (I love PB mag). The only bike out there I'd change my Tuono for is the V4T, but I have suspected that while it will undoubtedly be better, it probably isn't *that* much better. Reckon my V2T will do me for a good few years yet :thumbup

I love my Tuono R but was lucky enought to get my paws on the V4 for a test ride the other day and while i can`t vouch for the V2 factory it out handles the R by a country ****** mile ,you can throw the V4 at any corner you want at any rate of knots you dare it` s fookin sublimeiooo !!

Brakes aren`t shabby either and it`s got more leg room !!

But ,and it is a big ol but for me, it doesn`t have the stonky low down shove the twin has if one wanted to stick it on the back wheel when desired ?

Saying that I think i would buy one just to hear the howl of that V4 through the akra ...........Delicious :thumbup:thumbup:thumbup

rig - does your T still have the original Sachs rear shock? Reason I ask is that it's a pile of ***** - replacing it with summat decent (Ohlins in my case) makes a HUGE difference - I don't doubt the handling of my T could be improved, but it is bloody good. With the standard shock I had no confidence to chuck it about at all.

Yep still on sachs would love to change it out cos it feels like ***** and it would probably transform me bike , doesn`t stop me from hurling it into corners though but trust me when i say the v4 is totally glued to the road !!

Took the KTM 990 SMT out for a test aswell and that is one seriously sorted machine ........effortlesly bonkers that one, well done KTM !

Both bikes left my T feeling a bit wooden ??

I do like the SMT (not ridden one), in fact there's not much in the KTM range I don't like.

Don`t go riding one you`ll want it simple as that !

Shouldn`t say that on here but theres no denying KTM know how to build fun bikes . Just sold my 950 SMR a few months ago and it was a right tool but just wasn`t versatile enough . SMT does it all though and won`t be too surprised to find myself buying one next year ?

Still love my prillys though !:thumbup

I just wonder if the V4 will keep all the character of the V2? It was what won me over when I bought it, yes it's fast, sounds amazing, handles well and all that jazz but it aint just about how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast and my V2 gives me a school boy smile every time. Thats good enough for me.

Wouldn't mind a blast on the V4 though, see what all the hype is about.

I've just been for a test ride on a V4T and I was quite impressed, but they did offer me a really good deal on a new gen2 T.
So now I'm debating whether to sell my tuoldo and buy a new gen2 or just stick with what I have, hmmmm.
Suggestions welcome. (my tuoldo is pretty well sorted)

Ash, if you need to debate about it mate, stick with the Tuoldo, ESPECIALLY if yours is sorted.

My reasoning is that to me, a bike should always grab you by the bollox, ie, you instantly KNOW that you want it.........without question, and if the V4 aint doing that for you mate, keep what you have.

For instance, I`ve just traded up from my Yamaha FZ1 (09 plate), nice bike, quick (especially over 6k revs), and in looking for something more exciting, I test-rode an MV Augusta Brutale 920, a Kwak Z1000, and lastly, my new Tuono (60 plate), all on the same day. The MV and the Kwak were nice bikes, and maybe could`ve tempted me away from the Yam, especially the MV..........but, as soon as I rode the Tuono, I just knew that I`d clicked with the bike immediately, and HAD to have it.

Edit: Sorry Ash, after typing all my *****, I`ve just realised that it`s a genII you`re detabting on; still stands though, if you have to debate, keep what you`ve got bud.

Just my tuppeny`s worth mate........ : )

What's the difference in price? The V4T *may* be a better bike but I'm guessing there's a difference of maybe £4-5k ?? Based on cash outlay alone (regardless of which is the better bike) I'd say it's a no-brainer. Unless you're minted in which case ignore me and but the shiny shiny V4T :thumbup

Your right Gilo, it's a big difference in price, but I rode the 4T and not the gen2, I think I'm going to keep my Tuoldo.
And no, I'm not minted.

the gen2 factory is better equipped than the factory v4 so i am told??? v2 is better value and also the v4 is a completey diff bike , bit hard to compare in some places

Agree with what was said in PB.......the bikes are so different, why can't they (Aprilia) sell the V2 alongside the new V4 ?

Just out of intrest, what price was the factory in 2008

According to the PB article the Factory was £9749 in 2008, however the Gen 1 Racing was £11425 in 2003 and people bought each of them at the time thankfully, so we can all afford them now !

aprilia really were taking the piss in 2003 asking £11425 !
suprised they sold any..

Dave, I know what you`re saying mate, but TBH we`ve not had it too bad over the years when you consider that back in 1997, a mate of mine was looking to buy a Kawasaki ZX7R (brand new) for £9200, UK spec, when we suddenly discovered that imports were coming into the country (okay, with KMH speedos, and needing a headlight conversion) for only £6800. It was a no-brainer of course, and he bought the import instead !

So for Aprilia to be charging only 2k more, a full 6 years later, for a bit of Italian exotica, wasn`t really too bad IMHO ?

In fact, when you weigh it up, we don`t do too badly at all compared to cars, for instance, as pretty much everything car-wise is probably double now what it was 15 years ago, whereas the recent price-hikes, in say Yamaha`s R1 for instance, at over 13k, are the first proper increases we`ve seen in a long long time.

Don`t get me wrong, over 13k for an R1 is bloody stupid, but if they try to push the UK prices again, like they did back in `97, then the doors will open again for imports to come back, so they have to keep us reasonably sweet really..........
