Evening all.

Had a strange letter from Bennetts insurance today saying that, based on my current details, they cannot offer me insurance this year !!

I phoned to ask WTF was going on and was very surprised to find they now do NOT recognise (on their system) an Aprilia Tuono !!

Their system (and the Bikeinsurer on the 'net) WILL recognise a 1000 Tuono Mille !!

Anybody else had a problem recently ??

Paul

i use mcn compare, my insurance for last year was £660 comp, same company again £888 comp, with 5 yrs no claims, yeah right!
this times, its £264 comp, work that one out!

I am with Bennets no poblem £112 comp [but i am a very old ******* :lol ]

the thing you need to understand is that insurance underwriters (dirty *******s that they are) set premiums based on experience.
Example
I owned a home in San Francisco, and insured my new 07 hypermotard with full coverage for about $50/month (bikes value was like $12000)
after I sold it I bought an 01 honda VFR 800 (valued at $3500) my insurance went up to $100/month. WTF?

The reason.....it was the first year hyper, and not faired, and the insurance industry had very little history of paying claims. Also less people own Ducs than Hondas.

On the other hand the VFR had been around forever, and there was a ton of documented crashes that included paying off fairing damage (in the US that's the most expensive stuff that always breaks).

I got quotes from 5 more companies, and they were all worse,

In the end I sold that before moving and picked up a nice 07 Tuono. Less plastic = less premium. smaller company = less owners = less claims.

better bike = better bike!

the reason I mentioned home ownership, is because the insurance people give you better premiums in the states if you own a home (makes you look responsible)

Lets just say I might look good on paper, that's where it ends
