Ahhh you posh fookers with ya Ohlins :biggrin Us paupers dont have any bother with out standard poor mans mille forks seals :thumbup

oh... the old leaky ohlins forks story again,,,nah nah nha nha nha, i will stick with the ole showas, 49.5k miles and no leaky leaky(they have proper seals not them scraper seals only thinggamagigs..much better than oil on yer discs and calipers lol

shock or forks leaking ?

Forks- get Ducati 999s seals or Gsxr 1k seals from a k3 or k4. (double lipped) both are cheaper than Aprilia parts.

Also be careful as some Aprilia dealers still hold old stock and give you old seals. They were re designed a while back.

If you do it yourself - £60 all in (with non aprilia seals.)

Use a fork oil with a cst of 19. Forget fork weight as that is such a generic measurment that 2 different 5w oils can have 100% difference in viscosity at op temp. Cst is viscosity at op temp. Ohlins oil is very thin. Example being Ohlins road and track fork oil with a cst of 19. Silkoline 5w fork oil with a cst of 37 and a million other variations from different suppliers.

temp fix is to pull down dust seal and slide a piece of acetate under the main seal lip and run it around the circumference. Dirt gets under the lip and holds it off the leg hence you get leaking. A camera film negative is ideal.

If it's the shock then the seal normally turns inside itself allowing the nitrogen to leak out. You can usaully tell the nitro has gone as the rebound adjuster loses it's clicks and just spins freely. £120 -£140 . Dealer job unless you have nitrogen in the garage.

Poor mans Showaz for me also matey..but as you say..no leaky leaky ..yet!

The leaky ohlins was only the reason I didnt upgrade on mine, bout the only thing I didnt. Just reached 50k today with no probs at all and i ride in all weathers, better than some other bikes where they have had to be done a few times. Kawasaki sptrings to mind.
