The Uncle Crash R1 of Death needs new rubber to keep the shiny side up. I've got Dunlop 208 GPA's on there now. Not a bad tire, not a great tire either though. They take FOREVER to warm up (no tire warmers here), and they seem to break more easily than tires i've had in the past. I guess I could try the qualifiers, but honestly I don't know if I could take the plunge on Dunlop again...this would be a tough sell, but if someone is a die hard dunlop guy, lay it on me.

I loved the Michelin H2's when they were out. Now they're replaced with the Pilot Power Races...i think...honestly, when michelin did that whole change of name things, i got really confused.

I've heard mixed reviews on the Pirelli super corsas. Some have told me they are THE tire to have, others that they're overrated.

Then there's the wildcard, Bridgestone. Super in-expensive, and supposedly super nice. I've never ridden on Bridgestones before, so that's uncharted territory.

So what do you guys recommend? I'm only doing trackdays on these puppies, so DOT races is all I'm really interested in.

I don't know, I think they all have more grip than I have skill:laugh I've heard lots of good things about the PP Race tires though.

Here's my track setup

FRONT:
Metzler ME880 Marathon Whitewall (chicks dig whitewalls...)

REAR:
IRC iX-Kids Mini Motocross Intermediate Rear Tire (good if you go off-track as often as I do...)

Seriously, though, I love my Pirelli Super Corsas :thumbup

:laugh i loved the metzler sportec m1's....but after the dicontinued them, i never really gave metzler another shot. made by pirelli they are.

i'm hearing alot of good things about pirelli's hmm...

thanks chunky, i hadn't heard about those. from the article it looks like they're not quite a track oriented tire though :O

Jensen, I have been running Bridgestones forever. I would recommend the BT016 or the BT002 since you are track only. The BT014 is a great tire, I have them on the Gixxer and the front of the Tuono. They do "give" a bit when pushed near the limit. That said, I have never driven off of a Bridgestone. I rode off of a Dunlop slick and a Maxxis slick on the KTM. So, yes the Bridgestones are good.

Now for the wrench. The fast guy tuner here at the track says to use the Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa SC2 (green) compound. He says they are the grippiest and you can use them without warmers, but they are track only

Sorry mate. Didn't realise they were for your track bike. I must have had one eye closed when I read your orig post. :banghead

no worries, its always good to read something you didn't know before. i'm not up on the bridgestone models at all. the 5 compound tire (3 compounds really) sounds like their response to Michelin's 2CTs. I hope nobody gets crazy and makes a 7 compound tire :coocoo :laugh

BT002 at the rear 190
PP at the front 120

Makes an exciting ride out of it, do this setup and you'll broadside the whole track....

I'm a Pirelli Dragon Super Corsa Pro (SC1 Front, SC2 rear) man. I can't say a bad thing about them.

Let's see if this goes over better than the suspension theed............my 08 Tuono came with Metzler rennsport's and the stuck great @ Thill, pulled 2;14 on 'em,but everyone is trying to get me to replace with power pilot's THEY say they'er the **** & they pull "A" time's, so I'm going for those,or rennsport's again.

I'm very happy with Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tyres, but I'm a (slow) road rider with just a couple of trackdays each year. One of my friends really rates the Super Corsa Pro for trackwork (he doesn't use tyre-warmers).

That's just exhausted my knowledge on tyres. :huh2

well its down to the Pirelli's or the Michelin's

i can get the Pirelli's from my local track group for pretty cheap...or just go with the Michelin's from an online source, a member on another board has offered to mount them for free (as in beer).

decisions, decisions, decisions....
