Hi All, This my 1st post and just want to say i fitted the stand off a GSXR1000 01/02 model, Kept the original mount but changed the stand, Much more safer and the bike stands better. GoodLuck....

Same here its the best option in my opinion. I'll do my best to post some pics tomorrow.

I too have a gsxr stand ready to go on but it just seems far to long, im sure i remember people saying that have done this mod they chopped about an inch off of it and then welded the foot back on???

Pic's would be good warren :thumbup

On pre 04 bikes the stand has to be cut down but the bracket angle is different post 04 so it's the right length. assuming you have the right stand.

Yep thats the stand i have Spoonz, can you remember i Pm'ed you about it ages ago, i sent you a link to ebay were it was being sold.
If its a straight swop then thats fantasic, admitedly i have only held it to the bike and just assumed it was way to long.

So the switch and everything will be fine spoonz, just swoop it over and job done? I have one of the first new shape off the production line (hence my f'ing clocks resetting)

thanks in advance :thumbup

Spoonz, not that I'd ever, ever question your expertise but I'm confused - MOTOGP said he bolted the 01/02 Gixer stand straight on:dunno
Will a post 04 stand fit straight on and sit at the right angle - making it the one to go for?

No 100% it will not bolt straight on for 2 reasons.

1 the Gsxr stand is threaded at the front of the head as the bolt comes in from the back. (Aprilia stand other way round.

2. There is no pin hole for the sidestand switch to locate into.

There are a few ways of doing but basically you have to reduce the rear hole size by welding on the Gsxr stand and cut a thread into it. Then enlarge the front hole by about 2mm and drill a hole for the stand switch.

the pre/post 04 thing is referring to the Aprilia. The Gsxr stand is too long as it comes for a pre 04 rsv but just right for post 04. not a reference to a Gsxr post 04

There is a non welding method but it still requires a bit of drilling.

I've done the cbr1000r stand mod to my Falco today, useing original bracket & switch, the honda switch is only 2 wire, shame as it is made a lot better with a metal center & pin, anyway only mod needed to the stand was a little bit of weld so the stand will clear the exhaust,£20 sorted, the bike is sat up quite straight at the mo,but will keep an eye on it,Ive got the busbywoo stand on my Mille

I have just bought a second hand CBR1000rr sidestand so it should be with me anyday now..............watch this space

Hi Guys

15 quid sounds very good, this morning I just got around to fitting my bubbsywoo
stand and its great so far, nice quality and all that.

Little bit more coin but worth every penny, much nicer than standard!!!

Cheers

done mine today as well. much better. looks and feels absolutely secure now :thumbup

Hi Guys, The GSXR stand i fitted to my RSV was just the LEG not the mount! I simply swapped the LEGS over and thats it, Also used the GSXR spring as the original was too short, Hope this helps? There was NO cutting or welding!! GoodLuck,

Is your Mille the old (pre-04) or new model?

Yes it is PRE 04 sorry for the confusion BUT it does fit straight on. GoodLuck.

That's weird cos we did a Gsxr stand for Andirsv on an earlier bike and we had to weld his.

What year Gsxr stand did you have. The 3 i have done all bolt on from the back so you can't mount the stand switch ?

They also miss the stand stop without a tack of weld.

01/02 stand and yes it did go straight on but like i said i only swapped the leg, dont know why you had too mess about cutting and tacking but i simply unbolted the old and rebolted the new and used the gsxr spring and it fits perfect, bike more stable and sits uprite better, i will take pics and post as soon as i can ok, goodluck.

I only used the stand also. The Gsxr bracket is completely different shape so can't be used.

Not sure what year my donor stand was though
