How do I remove my 2003 T's front wheel

You could turn it upside down and sit it on its handlebars and seat like I used to do me Claude Butler ????????????
:thumbup:thumbup :lol:lol

Posh sod, they were top bikes

How do you think I got wheels on this one?, a bit of wood under frame will raise the m/c ready for wheels

Well folks, some interesting methods here. Thanks!

Just to let you know the T is going on the paddock stands tomorrow morning and the wheel is coming off!! My first attempt at this, so wish me well.

Only problem I have is, Motoliner (wheel straightners) need the wheel minus the tyre. Any suggestions on this? I might just take it to local dealer and get a new Corsa and bargain with them to take it off before I send away...What do you think?

dont forget that when you get the wheels back they will need paint.
where in this country are you.

Jaysus lad, take the wheel off and get some spoons and take the bugger off yersel'! Find any racer and he'll lend you some expertise and spoons.

Good luck, take your time and watch the tools for scraping out. Only way your gonna learn is doing it yourself. Everything you need to know was posted early on this thread. Take your laptop out with you so you can have a look for advice on ANY forum. Buy a Haynes basic biking skills manual. You aren't the first to ask for advise on this. Take the tyre to any where, Quick fit, whoever ????, local garage prefferably, most mechanics are in to bikes to some degree so they'l be ok about it .They can only ask for a tenner max ask and them to take any balance weights off to. Get the wheel sent off, get it straightened and then if it needs any paint or touching up get that done. Take the wheel back to same garage ,put tyre on, go home put wheel back on. Check brakes etc go for a steady spin. Return to garage, park bike up. Feel good about doing it yourself and poor a cold one. Then tell us about your new found spannerin skills.:thumbup

Well folks! The T is on the paddock stands minus front wheel.....Job done. Easier than I thought. Thanks for all the advice. What's this about the wheel needing painted after being straightened? And do I need to have the balancing weights removed?

The wheel has the smallest of flat spots on the L/hand innner rim, I couldn't believe the amount of uneven wear it's caused to the tyre....Unreal. You would have to see it to believe it, I can't believe it wasn't visible whilst fitted. Anyway, Job done. I'm proud of myself! Might bleed the brakes next while the callipers are off, or even change the plugs, maybe fit new air filter ( any recommendations on this ?) I think my shiney new socket set from Halfords is going to be geting some stick now!!

I think I've got a bug!!!!

Any other basic maintainanace jobs you guys can reccomend to sharpen up the T?

Thanks for all your advice!!

nowhere near me then bri, or i would have give you a lift.

i mentioned repainting as motoliner "roll" them out.

wait

Do not bleed the brakes while the calipers are off. Read the early posts again mate. Paint the wheel/patch it up if necessary. The weights will come off and be replaced when you get your old/new tyre fitted anyway. If the wheel was buckled a tiny bit the weights will have been put on to compensate for this. With a straight wheel and old/new tyres it will still need balancing to some degree.
Chill out till you get your wheel back. :yes

Just checked the wheel (it's lying in the hallway. Mrs well happy!) Not a single weight on it! I guess this means that the flat spot was caused after I had the last new tyre!! Can't remember any hairy moments or knocks though. Might have been some serious lean!!!!!.....I wish.

Any idea what could have caused it?

Can you offer up some simple maintainence tips that would sharpen the T up. Nothing too heavy though, I've only owned a socket set for best part of twelve hours.

Cheers Guys.

Any sugegstions for the new front tyre?

Got a new Diablo Corsa on the back about 4/500 miles back. Best to match up maybe? Unless you guys know different?

I'd advise having a matching set of tyres, Ive never been a fan of mix and match tyres, get another diablo corsa. Try round and black, on ebay.
they done me a pair of dunlop D208's for £150, which isn't much more than the trade price on just a rear!

Round and Black: 01582 600788

a heavy landing from a wheelie?
hitting a/ dropping off a curb a little quicker than planned?

DIY bike stuff - As YOozy/Nobbist posted, get a manual to guide you through the bits. Modern bikes are fairly limited - chain adjustment, tyre pressures, oil changes etc. Major routine stuff usually requires dealer electronics.

If the wheel is going to require repainting - ie powder coating, have you considered getting a replacemt wheel? A pair of Brembo wheels will go for about £150 on Ebay, sadly it's usually pairs or rears, people rarely split pairs.

Mmm, Brembo wheels sounds nice. £150 a pair you say. That seems too cheap. I wil investigate.

Thanks,

Just looked. there are three front wheels all in bloody red, typical!

I need Grey, I have silver and gold 53 plate tuono. If you see any give me a shout.

How much do you reckon powder coating will cost?

Powder coating is about £50 per wheel. If there is no-one in your neighbourhood then Triple s in Bingley are excellent. They do a collect & delivery service as well, I had the Oz wheels on the Tuoldo & Liz's Tunuo wheels done there.
I actually have a pair of Brembo's in my garage, but they are red - hence I didn't offer.

As a footnote - yours is a Magnet Grey model, the standard wheel colour is what Brembo classify as black.
