Can you look at this & tell me if it will be ok to ride the bike like this over the weekend ?

I was changing the tyres to night & found this.

Er i wouldnt..... looks fked to me.

I think your supposed to replace em in pairs too....

:(

The discs are floaters, there should be a bit of movement.
But that l/h disc deffo appears to have excessive play.
Any signs of vibration of brake problems?

As for riding it, personally, I wouldn't. That's not to say that it's unsafe, I'm just a really fussy **** when it comes to the stoppers.

As i got the bike back after fuleing problems yesterday i did 100 miles to test ride it & the brakes felt ok till i was doing under 30 mph then there was snatching on the front & it pulls to the left a bit as well about 10 mph.
I have sent the video to the sales man at the shop i got the bike from & told them to send me 2 new disc A.S.A.P as i need the bike for sunday & monday. If i do not get this sorted i will have my Ducati back.

Thanks for your help

they should have some float radially, if not you can clean em with brake cleaner.. but none of mine have any side to side.

certainly not like that.

ride it this w/e.. ? not if it was me.

in my opinion the bike wouldnt even get a mot in that state.

dont touch it, get yer old bike back and any out of pocket expences..

who the **** is this dealer anyway ?

if he,s worth owt more than a knob o goat ****, ask him to come on this forum and explain himself.

Agree that the left side looks way beyond spec.
Where are you located? I have a couple pairs you can have. One or more of each pair is a little warped (pulsing lever) but certainly better than that.
I'm in San Francisco, California though...

Both mine have rotational movement (even) but nothing side to side. Talking to someone in the know they are OK . Yours are odd and wrong.

I went down to the rocket ctr and had a check on discs on NEW bikes...........................................................,

Some have a bit of rotational movement , enough to satisfy me that mine are OK

had the same problem on mine a couple of weeks ago but not as bad, took it into my local ape dealer and was passed fit, i will however be changing them for a nice set of armstrong wavey discs over the winter ready for next year.

Hi all
Thanks for your info.

I am in the UK mid wales. Thanks for the offer.

As we only got the bike a few weeks ago it is under a 3 month warranty.

I rang the shop today & was told that the sale man i was dealing with was leaving & that he had not passed on all the info to the fella that was taking over from him? The new fella had seen the video & was willing to order some new ones in for end of next week & told me that it was not an M.O.T fail & with the 6 pot caliper it will hold it in place. ? I told him that was no good as need the bike for sunday & monday. So i told him that demon tweeks have some armstrong wavey discs for £126 per side & i will do the 80 mile round trip to pick them up (i told this to one of the sales men this morning when i rang & was told i will get a call back that never came) as long as they pay for them over the phone today. I got a call back this after noon off the new sales man to say they are all payed for & i can pick them up tomorrow morning. He also told me they are only doing this as a good will jester.
What do you think ?????????????????????????????????

L/H disc is defo not OK. brake caliper holding in place...hmmm...sales man not a mechanic i guess!!!!! this should have been picked up on PDI, and both discs repalced.

If the bike is under warranty, then assume the good will jesture is ordering from a non preferred supplier and letting you fit? Either way that needs replacing who ever pays. if few weeks old, can you borrow your old bike back?
you can go to an MOT place and show them see if they will tell you there and then. i guess i would want to know what caused that falure in 1st place.

Rememebr you'll need pads too.
good luck.

Hi El Liamo

That's the thing i dont get ? There is brand new pads in the front not a month old. How they did not pick this up when they were put in i do not know?
The old bike was sold yesterday? so they told me.

at least they've paid for the ones at demon thieves for you.

i would of pushed for new pads and saturday morning delivery as well.

Yep the new ones are pad for.
I have been meaning to go to demon tweeks for about a year now so am happy to go for a ride over there tomorrow.
The front pads have only jest been done.

Thanks all

can i just say...... you need to name this Steeeler !

had i bought a bike from them (him) with the issues you have had.....the brakes alone deserve this low life a long term inside... then i do not think that i would be able to "allow" someone to **** around with my safety the way you they have done to you.

Invite him on here to "redeem" himself.

Word of advise to him........ dont ever... EVER try to sell a bike to me !

probably wrong...... too much elvino but as far as i could see the brakes arnt 6 pots (look like 4 pots to me).... whatever.... holding them in place ...... Bollox.

So they replaced the pads and didnt notice the state of the disc ?

Take this bike back and look for something else.

Name this joke outfit so the rest of us can steer clear.

hey, if it was me then the department of transport would already be aware of this.....

f, just had a look at yer vid (denied access earlier).

There has to be a cause for that to happen to the disc, if it wiz mine a'd be checkin oot the pistons in the calliper, looks like one or both on one side are stuck or not functioning.

Hi all

Felix it sounds as if you are up set for us. Thanks m8

Aldo i will check the pistons when putting the new disc's on today.

Ok all I will not name the shop at the mo as the new fella Chris we are deling with has been ok with us so far.
I will say that the fella that left was simon.
I will also say the shop is part of the BLADE GROUP.

One thing i will say is that there van driver MICK was brill & a cool fella & was more help than the 1st sales man we meet.

I will give out all the info when the warranty run's out
We are going to wright to the head of the blade group & tell them all about what has happend with pic's & video's.
I will tell them that the fella or Lady that did the PDI need a good kick up the ***.
I will tell them we wont another 3 months warranty at the end of this 3 months as a good will jester.

The wife loved her old milie & regrets letting it go but was looking for some thing newer, that why she was looking at the V4 TUONO & is also looking at a black tuono 1000 r at the mo. It's brand new (well it's the last of the tuono 1000 r & will be on a 62 plate if she go's for it ?) :banghead:banghead:banghead
But for now i will get the brakes done on this one she will ride it for a bit see how it go's save up some money & may go for the black one. I dont know i jest do all the running about to keep her happy :yes:yes:yes:yes

Thanks all & i will name & shame

I do hope it all works out well for you in the end. I can accept minor things being overlooked before you take delivery of a bike, but this tells me it wasn't properly checked. Brakes and tyres on a bike are your life, and as such should be a number 1 priority for any dealer to check. Ok, they are being nice to you now, could be because they are worried you will report them for selling an "unfit for road use" vehicle, but I would still be letting us know who they are, for our safety.

finger, ask the missus to give some feedback on the armstrong discs mate, hope all the probs are now sorted enjoy

Hi all
Jest got back from demon tweeks
They did not have the armstrong disc's on the shelf so have had some EBC not as good looking as the armstrongs but what the hell i did not pay for them.
